Las Vegas Tips

Was bored so consolidated a bunch of tips from a few forums. If a mod can move it to the Las Vegas main thread would probably be better.

After seeing the same questions asked over and over again, here's a compilation of resources to make your next Las Vegas trip as easy and cheap as possible.

Hotel Promo Codes
Cheap Las Vegas Specials, Las Vegas Hotel Deals, Free Vegas Coupons
(Tip: Most hotel reservations are 100% refundable as long as you refund 48-72 hours prior to arrival. Book the cheapest you can find and rebook if needed)

Hotwire (hotels unknown until you book but can usually be identified)
Priceline and Hotwire Forum -> Hotwire - Nevada
Las Vegas Hotwire Hotel Identifier

Priceline (you bid for hotels, and unknown until bid is accepted, can narrow down choices to zones)
Priceline and Hotwire Forum -> Priceline - Nevada
Nevada - Las Vegas Forum

Airfare
Matrix - ITA Software
Expedia Travel: Vacations, Cheap Flights, Airline Tickets & Airfares fare calendars work well too

$20 Trick - Free Hotel Upgrade
LAS VEGAS FRONT DESK TIPPING!
For those who don't know what this is, basically a bribe to get a free upgrade on your room. When you check in, you place a $20 between your id and credit card, or in your passport and casually ask them for an upgrade. If they can do it, they'll accept the money, if they can't, 99% of the time they will return your money. It's better to know what you want. The thread below gives more details and successes.

Discount Show Tickets
Las Vegas Theater Ticket Deals, Show & Concert Tickets | Travelzoo
Great Las Vegas Discounts at Tix4Tonight | Half Price Tickets and Discount Tickets Every Day
VegasTix4Less(locations) - View image: vegas tix 4 less locations map
I find booking online with promo codes or promotions usually cheaper.

Car Rentals (I find Alamo to be cheapest 90% of the time)
Car Rental Savers, car rental coupons and car rental discounts!
CAR RENTAL FAQ- READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING
(Tip: Most car rental companies do not charge you for reservations. You can cancel and rebook if you find a cheaper rate in the future.)

Restaurant.com Gift Certificates
http://www.retailmenot.com/view/restaurant.com for promo codes

Notable Restaurants:
Strip Burger (Usually sells out within first 2 days of the month, and also no discounts)
Hash House a Go Go (Giant delicious-heart-attack-inducing portions)
Mix (The view is amazing)
BB King's Restaurant & Blues Club (For some nice live jazz)

Clubs Info and Contacts
JACK | Free Las Vegas Nightclub Reviews, Nightlife Guides, & Direct Contacts.

Taxi Fares Rates and Estimated Fees
Taxicab Authority - Fares and Fees..

Gambling Odds and Information
Wizard of Odds: The last word on gambling strategy

Maps
Explore Las Vegas - Listings Explorer - Las Vegas | Las Vegas Hotels, Shows, Maps, Golf, Restaurants & Things to Do

Convention Dates (Check your dates to avoid big conventions)
Las Vegas Convention Calendar | Search Events and Trade Shows Here

I know this is a big list, please pm me if you think something should be added or removed, thanks.

Restaurant.com has coupon code CABIN for 50% off right now. I'd use it only for stripburger as that always runs out. If you want other restaurants, I'd wait because better coupons come out later in the month.

I was going to try that at ph when I went in the summer, but decided to just ask if there were any complimentary upgrades.
Got bumped up to a jr suite from the most basic room

Didn't work for me at Bellagio. Handed him $50 but he played dumb and offered to upgrade for $400 over 3-4 nights.

For anyone wanting to read more experiences with the $20 sandwich, you can browse this super long thread:

LAS VEGAS FRONT DESK TIPPING!

It even has statistics of how often it has worked at which properties...

New Restaurant.com gift promo code is JOY, 90% off.

And regarding allegiant flights, you can actually save $17/person if you book at the airport instead of doing it online. However, I think they only open in the mornings on select dates or something, it's kinda stupid. But if you're looking to go vegas, and you go to bellingham a lot, something to think about if you're cheap like me.
