Nelson Brewing Company's Faceplant Winter Ale is not bad.

Nelson's style is British so don't expect a beer like Tree or GIB's style because they're very American in their use of spice. It is malty with a rich, molasses or brown sugar like sweetness that is balanced with slightly high ABV (6%) and carbonation levels. It's not incredible, but definitely a well-balanced, well-crafted beer that is easily session able. I like this brewery.

Arguably cans keep beer fresher than in bottles, plus you should be pouring them into a glass anyhow.

^ Is that the one where they mention on the packaging it has chocolate and cherry falvours in it?

It just caught my eye as the wife was grabbing a bottle of wine. I got bored and wandered over to the beer section. I tell ya, that's the easiest way to get her to make up her mind. She knows if she takes too long, I'm not leaving empty handed lol

what are your guys favourite beer to pick up from the states? I went back a few pages and saw a few guys saying Miller High Life. Anyone have anything else that's relatively good, cheap and available in 6 pack from gas stations. Was thinking of grabbing a 6 pack next time I go down to pick up a package from blaine.

Coors original is excellent. I would snag that first over Rolling Rock.

Old Milwaukee is gross. So watery. This coming from someone who enjoys lighter beers. But Old Milwaukee is just terrible. The fact they have a 'Light' version is even more disturbing. Regardless of how cheap, I'd save my money.

I actually visited the Dechutes Brewery last summer, which is in Bend, OR (nowhere near Portland lol).

Awesome brewery, and the people working there obviously love what they do. The free tour of their brewery was very detailed, and you got to see everything. The free tastings were the best part (obviously), I was even able to try their 'Green Monster'. Now THAT was different!
