Digital LCD rpm gauge

seeing if anyone has some success with my idea...

ive been wanting to add a digital lcd gauge to my civic which did not come with a tach from the factory even though it was a 5spd. $ive searched online with some varied results and what i keep on coming back to a motorcycle lcd tachs. $most say they can work on almost any engine including cars... but i havent found any cars running them per say. $

im after something smaller and flat that i can double sided tape to my gauge cluster below the speedometer (there's 1.5" x 3" area roughly). cost is a factor too ($20-40). $i do not want a round typical 2 1/16" gauge.

Can anyone suggest a product or has experience on this? $

some examples

My project car is running a ScanGuage off the obd port but it's way over your budget. It shows a lot of other engine vitals though.

Why not just do a simple cluster swap?
You didn't mention what year Civic.

Is there a reason you want to go digital?

sorry its a 96 dx.

my only reservations about doing a cluster swap if its that simple, is finding a similar km donor for a decent price. on the other hand, if any of the above units would work easily, its a simple install.

Cluster swap is simple, clean and mileage can be made to match. While adding a digital tach may be simple, I just don't like adding extra clutter to the dash unless necessary.

I too have a scan guage that I bought from ontario. Iirc, it cost about $80 but it also gives other readings on your engine as well. Plus, you can pull CEL codes and clear them if need be.
