Recommend a mechanic in the Minoru/No. 3 Rd area of Richmond?

Just got a Mazda and needing general maintenance done on it (wheel bearings, etc.). Looking to get some recommendations on general auto mechanics in the Minoru, #3 road, Alderbridge area of Richmond? I don't want to bother friends for rides and stuff I'd like to have a shop I can walk back to my home from.

I know Rise Auto Salon is one and a sponsor, but they seem pretty busy from my contact with them. Minit-Tune seems to be well recommended but its a bit further from my place. OKTire is close but had some pretty bad reviews on RS.

Any other places you guys could recommend? Thanks!

HBL Autosports Inc

These guys are further away, but I felt they did a good (and reasonably priced) job changing the timing belt on my Subaru.

Another vote for HBL. These guys do solid and thorough work.

Did you already talk to Phil? Yeah unfortunately we're booked out for about a week. Smaller jobs we may be able to get in.

Sky is also another great trustworthy shop (literally behind us). They're pretty swamped too. But they can usually squeeze you in on the fly depending on how big the job is.

If it's just a wheel bearing I'm pretty sure we could squeeze you in.

Yea I've been talking to Phil but the timing of replies I assumed you guys were pretty busy.

I will PM you with what I talked to Phil about and details.

Yeah, Phil is working in the back 90% of the times. So his replies will be MUCH slower then mine. I don't let him use the comp until lunch or end of day haha.

Otherwise he'd be a fulltime facebooker and not a mechanic.

Honest guys, great work and decent pricing i've been going to them for about 8 years now.

I was going to that place for years. However, a couple of negative incidents with my car had me finding a different shop:

- Could not fix an oil leak. Would not continue to fix the leak even though that's what we paid them to do.
- Brought my car to a new mechanic. Found the root cause right away.

At their current location, they had a car on a lift. The staff rose the lift too high. The antenna was planted on the rear windshield and smashed the windshield. I was just shocked by the carelessness.

It's unfortunate b/c the owner is a family friend too.

How much did it cost to change your timing belt there, (if you don't mind me asking)

every car could be a little bit different, maybe you should call for a quote, or PM him on NASIOC.

Well sorry to hear about that, i however had never had an issue with work done, or customer service.

I bought the Gates kit on Amazon.com for ~$300 and then the Install was ~ $300.
It wasn't just the t-belt; I had the pulleys, thermostat, water pump done at the same time. The gates kit included all of this. So $600ish all in?

I think if HBL supplied and installed everything, it would be $900. Richmond Subaru quoted me $1500+.

P.S. Is your name Justin?
