Virtanen had a nice steal then assisted on a goal on the same play in that game, but no one talks about that.

A Canadian team giving up 6 goals, that's terrible coaching and goaltending. When we're firing on all cylinders, we should be like the last Canadian Olympic team. Just shutdown everyone, 3 GA in 6 games including the medal rounds.

From the games I watched, didn't seem like the team really gelled
i think that's on the coaching staff

couple of stupid plays and lack of impact from Virtanen but i think that's also on the coaching staff for not deploying him in the right situations.

yada yada it's a short tourney but the coaching staff should know and should have reacted better

That Canadian Sochi team is a once in a generation team...that team was just so dominant, not as flashy up front but the D corps and the goaltending was bulletproof.

Normally i would be too but now i have no Canucks prospect to root for anymore.

That said, I hope Finland wins.

The part about the team not producing and not gelling as a team falls on the coaching staff. When you're switching lines on a daily basis in an already short tourney, I don't see how any chemistry can be produced between the players.

one thing i dont think gets enough talk is the quality of players that canada has available.

years ago, you would see canada having 10 or 12 or more returning players from the previous year, but over the last 5 years, canada is lucky to have 4 or 5 as most of the top shelf 18 or 19 year old players that could play, are actually in the NHL.

i dont know how that compares to other countries, but it certainly does level the playing field some, when you take away the 15 BEST 19 year olds from canadas roster.

National pride has little to do with the WJC anymore. Teams use it as a development tool and there is immense pressure from fans/media to along with it. Most people care more about their NHL prospects than they do about the country they represent and hate on prospects of other teams. William Nylander's injury and Lamoriello's last minute quashing of Nylander's/Sweden's press conference has me thinking it will be even less likely to see highly valued prospects going to this tournament. Especially if they are already at the AHL/NHL level.

I agree. We missed what? McDavid, Reinhart, Bennett, Ekblad, Ritchie (He played last year), McCann, Fabbri. Am I missing any?

Sam Reinhart and Nick Ritchie wouldn't have been eligible as they're 1995 birth years.

NHL players young enough to play in the WJHC:

This is partially the same reason the NHL doesn't want the players to play in the Olympics.
Imagine Nylander's injury was career ending, the league and the team that has his rights would lose out.

Which is stupid. Players are far more likely to be injured in the NHL than in international tournaments.

Tell that to Jgar who was rocked by Ovi during the 2010 Olympics IIRC.

Bo Ho! Finally, he scores a goal. Bo has been skating hard to the net in recent games. -just not getting quality shots on the goalie.

-hope that a confidence boost will help his game.
