| Refusing parcel question
Anyone have any experience refusing/rejecting a parcel?
Emailed a company (in advance) to cancel my order but they still shipped it anyways... no surprise DHL tracking says i owe them $96 in brokerage fees to receive the parcel....
I'm wondering if I can tell DHL that I'm refusing the parcel and have it shipped back to the company? What happens to the fees?
Thanks

not sure on the fees but when I deliver packages and customer refuses I just take it back to station and they ship it back to the shipper and normally the shipper will pay for it to go back, I would assume no one gets charged the fees

I'm assuming in this case the shipper will take a cost of my refund from the order to cover this cost no? I doubt they'd pay for it out of their own

I overheard a CSR at our station call a shipper and told them the recipient has refused the package and she was trying to find out what they wanted us to do with the package. From the response of our CSR it sounded like they had said just ship the item back to them, using their account #, for us to charge the shipping fees. Whether or not they refund the shipping to the recipient I guess is another story. However it sounds like you had told them to cancel before they ship the item which they didn't, I would hope they honour your cancellation and refund you fully

The shipper will pay the customs clearance fees incurred by the courier. The shipper may then deduct the fees from your refunded amount. In your case, if you have indeed cancelled the order before they shipped, then it's likely that the shipper will eat the fees.

However I'm looking at their return policy and it states they only process returns with a return label provided by them.....
Which literally means I would have to pay $96 to DHL to receive the package, extra cost to ship it back with the return label AND have $30 USD taken from my refund for the original shipping |

Typically most companies will just eat it, it's considered the cost of doing business but of course some bunk companies will rape you.

is DHL retarded?
refused the delivery yesterday and specifically told the guy to send it back to the seller
Just got a email notification that they're on their way to re-deliver the package today |

Update:
Parcel was finally returned to sender after being refused
Didn't have to pay the brokerage fees and got a refund minus the shipping |

Turned out pretty good, given the circumstances.

Would rather pay the return shipping than that brokerage fee I was charged |
