domani those are crazy shot. damn!!!!

[azn angel] 10-30-2004 12:15 AM

domani, farker those shots turned out amazing.

the second one kinda brings down the rest, and the last image, i think needs the front wheel more flush to the car....

aside from that, i hate you :D

I like this shot. Perhaps it's how the flare ends up being 1/3rd of the way into the frame.

What was your saturation setting for this? Looks like you bumped it up a bit.

ahh i havent played with saturation settings until now :) and i like it
it was bumped up 20 i think... around there

dub.dub 10-30-2004 02:37 AM

That's definitely my favorite picture too.

Domani definitely takes the cake for best shot in the automotive category.

Thanks S.

did u use a camera mount on the 2nd pic, or u stuck ur body out
the window ?

Doc 11-01-2004 01:38 PM

Stuck body out the window, with arm extended out even further. It was actually kind of scary, since we were going 100+ and all...

Looks very brochure-like.

Take off the border, add the Audi logo on it, and bam, you got a nice little ad :D

dub.dub 11-03-2004 08:58 PM

haha yea that's what i was thinking

was wondering how u like brought out the pic and made the lil details apparent? what'd u do for post-processing if u dont mind sharing, domani?

[azn angel] 11-03-2004 09:30 PM

domani..wicked as usual...

everytime i shoot car shots, i find that to expose properly for highlights the shadow areas are too dark.

great exposure!

are you mostly shooting on overcast days with light behind you?

np problem

i think the little details u mention is all about exposure... just
lucky at that moment...

post process in order of sequence
1. auto contrast
2. add more contrast
3. remove the plate number
4. crop
5. border (which all of u hate LOL)
6. save for web.

Thanks D.

for this particular shot, the sun was on the right of me and has already
been block by the mtn.... thus the soft lighting...

if possible, the light behind me would be best... and around
the dying day sun would be optimal...

dub.dub 11-03-2004 11:17 PM

so you don't play with levels or auto level at all?
and when u guys save for web, do you go high (60) or maximum (80)?

nope....

i just double checked :)

and i saved @ 100%

edit: i did use auto level, just to see but didn't do much good, so it
was not necessary

I usually do auto levels....and then manually shift the midtones to the right a bit too as well (move the left arrow to the right more).

Saving for web, I have a preset Action for saving to the desktop, at around 60. Reason for that? Web viewing will not really matter with a higher compression anyways. Usually means less bandwidth used, translating into faster loading images.

Which leads us to another very important topic in photography: PREPARATION!

Domani here did a scout of the site before hand, and found the location a day ahead in preparation for returning there for a shoot.

Usually if you want good results, this is what you would want to do. Same thing for sunsets.....trekking to a spot a day ahead and timing the sunset first, will mean a world of difference.

if the leftest arrow = midtones what do the other 2 arrows represent (middle and farther right ones)?

ahh, preset for saving onto desktop, i should do that as well... :) thanks!

[azn angel] 11-04-2004 09:13 AM

no no.. wrong

with the levels palette open, the far left triangle is the black point, the middle triangle is the gray point, and the far right the white point.
