i know it's basic noob stuff, but if you are looking for a job in IT it would look really bad if you don't even have a cert for the basics right?

I've always said during interviews that it wasn't worth my time to get such a simple cert. Basically if you finished highschool, you have A+ knowledge

I read this thread and this one as well and the jist of it is that A+ is useless. However, I recently asked a friend that worked at NCIX and he said I need to get at least my A+, plus a whole bunch of other certs to work there.... (for $1x/hr?)

Anyhow, I thought it would be an asset to my resume. But I was also confused as to which one I should take:
220-601 for Essentials
220-602 for IT Technician
220-603 for Remote Support Technician
220-604 for Depot Technician

Any further insight and advice would be great. I've been fixing computers since I don't know when and while reading through the material, the information does go beyond knowing how to build a computer and diagnosing hardware/software problems. My aim at the moment is just to hunt down a tech bench part-time/full-time job.

I would get "IT Technician "

Experience > Certifications

Of course, if you don't have the experience under your belt, the certifications can make up for a bit of it. I got my MCSE in 2000. I just kept doing the practice exams for study, and finished the last exam after 6 months. It was pretty easy. I took my time, and smoked a lot of weed while I 'studied'. While MCSE looked decent on the resume, it was mainly my experience which got me to where I am today.

A+ cert is now worth nothing in the industry unless u want to work at fs and become a repair man

right now im preparing to write my CCNA exam and after than my MCSE exam

I took it 10 yrs ago just for the hack of it (was thinking about finding a different job then so I never told anyone at work).

Few years later, one of my junior (IT department) took it and post his certificate high on the wall in our office like he was afraid that no one can see it. rlol.

I think it's waste of money.
