Thanks! The photo is a vertical, and the only way it would fit the page was this way, as they wanted the whole sign in the image. The sign belongs to the Canadian Wildlife Services - which I guess explains why they wanted to use the image..haha.. I sent them a low res proof and then a high resolution image for print, but they ended up using the low res image for some reason, as the image is pixelated. D'oh!

Nothing special here... A few hours ago, I heard a few Eagles chuckling on top of a very in my backyard. Got as close as I could.

They flew away after about an hour of watching everything that moves around my place..

I don't know what that second bird is, but i saw him when i was in San Fran and he's a beauty! Nice picture, maybe crop it down a bit to get a closer view! :)

Senna4ever 02-14-2012 11:46 PM

At first I thought it looked like either a Lazuli Bunting or Western Bluebird, but the shape of its beak is too long to be those birds....I have no idea what it is...curious...

its a Scrub Jay. i bought this book at Reifel one rainy morning, $20. best book ever. illustrations of male/females of course, seasonal colours, and juveniles.

^^^ how are they going to get unshelled peanuts through that tiny wire mesh?

european 02-21-2012 03:41 PM

^
They poke holes with their beaks and get the peanuts out. They've been doing it for years. That feeder gets refilled every 3 weeks if not less. The Chickadee's and Stellar Jay's love it. The Junco's, not so much but they get the little pieces that fall down or go back to their seed feeder. The holes are quite big. I can stick my pinky and ring finger through them.
