Great Stock Value (TSE: TRE.TO)
Shares of TRE traded higher by 51.24% or $2.68/share to $7.91. Sino-Forest Corporation is trading at a price to book ratio of 0.4. This indicates that the value of the company's underlying assets exceeds today's market price. The PEG is 0.58 suggesting that the shares are trading at an excellent value relative to firm's growth rate. The price to sales ratio came in at 0.67. Hence, the firm is extremely cheap relative to its top line sales figures. On average, 1371050 shares of TRE.TO exchange hands on a given day and today's volume is recorded at 1258226. These financial metrics combined make this company seem undervalued. Value investors may have an eye on this one, especially if the stock gets cheaper.

For the CUU holders - if you're reading on SH how CUU is going to Toronto for a meeting with brokers etc. This is actually some information I got from somebody who's working with Vantagewire who help market this event.

CUU is one of the 20 companies that will meet 20 investment brokers. The event/dinner is kinda like a speed dating where each company will have 20-30 mins to discuss their projects. The $10,000 dinner is sponsored by Stifel. (a large shareholder of CUU).

Dafonz , just wondering what your opinion is to not go long on TRE ? The accusation of TRE by MW is most likely false since they are in the short position , wanting to push down the shares to gain profit . You seen to give one sentence answers on it being "retarded" , but without and discussion .

We will just have to see once the investigation starts and the real deal is released.

sounds like he's basing this expert opinion on muddy waters' previous investigations.

on a separate note, are you guys mostly trading with your TFSA account? i opened an individual margin accound and an individual TFSA account with q-trade. which one should i use? this whole tfsa thing is new to me

Muddy Waters has taken down many other stocks, namely Chinese stocks, as Dafonz pointed out already. Just because the a institution may be short a stock and issues damning accusation/report (before or after) in no way means that the documents are false. Muddy Waters puts themselves at position of greater liability by making such accusations as they could be sued by investors/TRE itself.

It seems like you're trying to use a contrarian kind of view for this play. Most people would not go long on TRE.TO, the only longs are scalpers that are in and out at a strict stop price or once they've gotten a small profit. I don't even think there are shares available to short anymore

Well, Muddy Water has been proven wrong before, but it does make sense since they're putting themselves in a position to get sued just to release the information.

I don't think its a stock that i would want to long either, as i have only scalped it a couple times, but there are many debates on this topics. I guess we'll just have to see.

The sentiment towards chinese RTOs is already decidedly negative so the shorts will look for ANY reason to kill a stock.

There are two possible outcomes here:
- TRE is proven to be a fraud in which case the price tanks more.
- TRE is proven to be ok. In this case, the stock price may or may not recover (see ONP as an example).

The risk reward ratio just isn't there for going long. Just look at the price action the past couple of days. You definitely wouldn't want to be caught on the wrong side of those swings.

Whether or not muddy waters is short the stock is really quite irrelevant because it's the market sentiment that matters.

If you decide to go long TRE (vs scalping it intraday), then you are a far braver person than me.

For those of you who scalped TRE.TO how did you come up with your entry/exit points?

is this good news? or do they think they wont get bought out by teck and are looking for something else?

It's good news to me. CUU is acting as SC is their own. They are looking for any outside investors to finance the construction of the mine. Whether Teck backs in or it is their decision. Until then, SC is still technically belongs to CUU.

Quick question to everyone here. Who here invests - profit and roll over the money and continue to use your profits to invest even larger? Or do you invest, profit and take out the money to spend?

I dump my earnings back in. I live off my day job and plan to retire on my investments. Any profits are reinvested on top of my minimum $200/month deposit. I say minimum because I tend to dump extra left over money at the end of the month into investments.
