sounds like a good idea to me :) |

tell him just to get center section to replace the old worn out one easy to find and cheeper |
anyone have any ideas why my heaters barely blowing hot air after removing the a/c? im not getting any leaks under the dash and the fan still blows strong :| |
Hey if anyone wants it, theres a white 87 supra turbo at beacon auto for sale, it has a blown HG and 282,xxx kms on it. I beleive the guy was asking 1000 for the whole car, or 400 w/o the tires (brand new) Just in case someone needs something |
i saw that thing there today, is it 5spd or auto? 282k seems a bit high... haha :( |
i didnt actually notice if it was auto or not, basically i saw the kms and walked away |
why are you scared of mileage if it has a blown headgasket anyways? Hey Murray, check on your firewall on the driver's side there's that little bell looking thing with a few vacuum lines going into it - check the lever on on that opens/closes when you crank the heat up all the way and see if it's getting stuck. Mine started doing that all of a sudden when I swapped climate control units and I just hooked up the lines differently (as per SF instructions:)) and it works fine now. |

Replacing the head gasket is a must when getting an older Supra IMO. Metal + ARP head studs = relief :) Duane Other than that the motor will handle all if tuned correctly. |
for $1000, a gasket kit, and a weekend, you could turn it around and sell it for at least $4k, even with that mileage. |
screw the tires... buy it for 400, replace the gasket, put on an old set of sawblades hmmm- wheels turning again. Stupid me and my being up island when all the good deals are around. But if it's a 5spd it might be worth it still. Maybe I'll have to extend my trip from Nanaimo --> Victoria this weekend :P |
Do it, come all the way down! |
Guess who blew an oil line in the middle of nowhere tonight? SO I won't be going anywhere this weekend I guess. Started spewing oil like crazy about 10 minutes outside of sawyard. Popped the hood and it looks like one of the lines for my filter relocation kit was a little TOO close to the downpipe (like touching it) and it melted a bit and started leaking. It's either that or one of the turbo lines. Nothing coming out of the exhaust pipes. Hard to tell without a flashlight and far too hot around that area to feel around any more than I had already. Me being the dumbass I am took everything out of my car (8 litres of oil, my jack, hoses, clamps) before I left so I could make room for more stuff to bring back with me. Low and behold - no tow truck driver in Sawyard at the moment so there goes the idea of towing it 10 minutes into town, fixing the line and being on my merry way. I considered trying to milk it all the way into sawyard... drove about 5 minutes and started losing a little bit of oil pressure so I just stopped. Can't blame me for being a little too skeptical about oil levels and pressures after the last "incident". Luckily a whole bunch of people ended up pulling over every time I did (like 4 times to check oil levels) and offered me rides/help. Gotta love the north island for that, people up here rock!! So now I am back in Port McNeill, car on the side of the highway and looking at $250 tow to get it back here... everyone I know with a trailer is gone for the long weekend. It's either that or bring out a bunch of tools, jack the car up, drail the oil, put the filter back in the stock spot and see what happens. But if that doesn't fix the problem then I have to wait until Monday to get it towed because of the long weekend. Dunno what to do... could fix it for free and drive away. I'll probably get it towed tonight I guess. I think I am going to have to start a slush fund just for a random shit that always seems to happen with this damn car. Always something. But on the upside, I can stay here this weekend and polish my valvecovers :) |
that sucks ass rueben! you should just go jack it up and fix it yourself, altho on the side of the highway that would be a major PITA. i went and looked at that $400 supra today, the body is in pretty crappy shape, missing most of the mouldings, has rust in the fender wells, etc. the interior looks semi decent burgandy and the car is a 5spd. |
if it's a 5spd, buy it!!! I'll give you some money for the motor :P PS - go on MSN you bastard. |
that sucks ass man, but your lucky it didnt turn into an engine fire. let me know if i can help. |
Just got back from a super fun 3 hour tow. oh well... it happens I guess. Could have been worse I suppose. There is oil ALL over the rear bumper and underside of the car. I know what I am doing this weekend!! Maybe while I am under there it will give me a good reason to finall yinstall the fuel filter that has been sitting in my trunk for about a year. WE'll find out all the things I busted tomorrow when it's light out :) |
That sucks to hear Reuben. I got the message earlier tonight. I wonder what I'm in for when I put mine on the road... |
Yeah, just don't od dumb things like let hoses touch the downpipe lol. I haven't bothered to check it out totally yet, but after poking around a bit in the daylight it looks like that was the problem. I"m just going to drain the oil and put the filter back in the stock spot -see if that fixes it. Eventually I guess braided lines would be ideal as well. I like having the filter in that spot (where the charcoal can used to be). can't really think of any other decent spots to put it where it's easy to get to. |
hello i'll be back soon trust me |
You better be |
