I concur. The first two would have been better if the performers were not blurred as much. The first of the second set is awesome...too bad it wasn't shot on a high ISOB&W film. It's too smooth for me.

thanks,
the first two were taken by using light painting methods
i was trying to portray the soul-ful-ness of the performers
if i was to capture the stillness, the whole performance would not have been lit such way
during the 30sec exposure i took the external flash and use the pilot pre fire feature and let the flash illuminate the scene with various angles.
that's why the lighting is so bright :D (it was a dark performance)

Senna4ever 10-08-2006 09:21 AM

^^^ Nice technique!

dub.dub 10-08-2006 10:35 AM

oo nice, how did you go about doing light painting methods? is that what you meant by using the flash at various angles?

pharoaz 10-08-2006 11:41 AM

more details on that technique!

sounds awsome...

best shot are the drum sticks in the air!!

(thats it i'm goin to kfc)

Meowjin 10-08-2006 12:06 PM

Pretty much he set it on a 30 second exposure, took his flash, and fired his flash manually from diffrent angles. The camera sees this and freezes the picture. Because it was pitch dark, thats all the camera sees.

Majin: For black and white conversions, add a color balance adjustments layer on top of everything, check monochromatic, and play around with the sliders. IMO that's the best way to do it.

Meowjin 10-08-2006 02:37 PM

Lee: I can't find monochromatic. But I fondled it a bit and found something I like.

That's totally not the effect I was looking for, however I guess this time I cant blame you. When I said color balance, I meant channel mixer.

Meowjin 10-09-2006 10:15 AM

I did use channel mixer for the last one.

Actually if I post up the original can anyone fix it for me?

Senna4ever 10-09-2006 11:15 AM

Go for it.
