Thanks for the comment and the hate, LOL.

Truly a magical place, worth it 100% to go. I was surprised at how happy I was with my 6MP D40. It was the first time shooting RAW, and the images turned out amazing. I'm think going to print a large size to hang up on the wall.

The screen sucks, and the UI is a bit clunky compared to the newer cameras, but the IQ is still pretty damn good. There's still a strong used market for the 5D - I get asked if I have one all the time.

Thanks for the comments guy, appreciate it.

The location of these is in Page, Arizona. They're run by a Navajo family, these canyons fall under their land. Admission is $26, and believe me, worth every cent. I've never seen anything so beautiful, and my pics don't do it justice at all! Once you're inside you complete forget where you are. I'm not a religious person or anything, but that place has a borderline spiritual feel to it.

Senna if you go, it's be amazing to see what you could come up with, especially with your equipment too. I consider myself pretty amateur with entry level camera, and got shots that I absolutely loved. With the infinite amounts of positions and such, it's truly a photographer's heaven. I want to go back one day with a higher MP camera and perhaps play around with a UWA lens in there.

The trick is to arrive at 9am. The ideal lighting is between 930am-1030am. Any later and the sun is above the canyon, and the photos are washed out. Most of the damned tour groups start flooding the place at 11am+. It used to be a pretty low key place, but word is starting to get out there about it.

Since you asked so nicely:

The "Wave"

Ok I'm done. I've used up my 3 photos per day to piss off Senna .

So you took these shots all in 1 hour? In one day, or were you there on multiple days? It'd be awesome to go there with a large format camera.

Dood, i felt like i went back to the stone-age with the 5D after having a 50D and now my 7D.

Yup, the screen is not close to what has been captured, the UI is weird to get used to compared to the newer cams i had/have.

I now see how important Liveview is on my 7D when shooting landscape (manually focusing is tough through the view finder with the stock screens). Also, the sensor cleaning in the newer cameras is nice. i had some dust on the sensor and only saw it at F22, white wall shots. luckily, they all blew off with my blower

other than that, the mirror recall was done, actuations is low (5K) and the thing is in great shape.

There is a warmth to the pics from the 5D that my 7D just doesn't have (straight out of cam of course).

But it's nice having a different perspective on my current lenses now! the 24-70 is actually 'wide' now

That's because it doesn't have a built-in sensor cleaning function. You have to carry a blower bulb with you all the time. With my 5DmkII, I find I do a wet cleaning every few months.

...and the 24-70 is actually sharp on the 5D! Due to the high pixel density of the 7D & 5DMKII, the 24-70 is kind of soft on those two. I think Canon is going to introduce a new 24-70 very soon, as the current one is backordered at Canon Canada.

you know, i thought maybe i was just seeing things but it does seem a little sharper on the 5D.

i mean, i'm happy with the lens on my 7D but i do notice it's a bit soft when i pixel peep.

i think it's about time canon released a new 24-70. you're right when you mentioned to me before that the Nikon and the Sony versions are better and newer.

btw, the 5D focus feels like a slug compared to my 7D

Pics of the 5D:

My new favorite combo, 5D + 24-70 2.8

Huge sensor compared to my crop body (focus point was on sensor, odd how the shot is soft)

full frame goodness:
