Seriously? I can understand relocating your front license plate, but what in the world would possess a person to do this??? Lol it looks terrible! Yes holes were drilled into the trunk.

It's a dealer plate mounted on a magnetic base. The holes are drilled into the magnetic base to screw the plates onto it and not drilled into the car. The plates sticks to the car with magnets. Some dealers use the plate bag and some use this magnetic base thing.

Energy 07-03-2012 05:43 PM

That makes more sense.

I have never seen demo plates like that before.. Just always the bagged ones that hang out of the trunk

Just one question though, the A5/S5 doesn't have an aluminum trunk?

donjalapeno 07-03-2012 11:22 PM

i highly doubt the dealership actually drilled the trunk.

It's not as common. I haven't seen dealer plates with a magnetic base in years!
