God damnit........ I went to the Casino right by the Freeway and Willingdon. Never been to a fricken casino in my whole entire life. So, I go in there to get my Gold Card, so I can get free PNE admission. Got the Gold Card right away, plus a free pen and whatnot. I decide to check out the slots and go to a few tables. Shit, there's a reason my momma told me not to go to them places. I had $450.00 in my wallet. Planning on getting me some car audio stuff from Soundsgood. Anyway, by the time I left, I had 5 dolla left. I'm addicted, man. I'm a gonna go to the ATM and get me mo money. Thanks RS for introducing me to Casinos. Nice place, music a little too loud, but good food, lots of flashing lights. Where the heck are all the dancing women? Only in Vegas? I've watched too many movies on TV. This is what you get when you spend most of your life married to your work. Two jobs, putting kids through university. I wish I had discovered gambling long time ago. Know your limit, go for it! |

Should have said, "Screw my limit, go for it!" I'm off to PNE to check out the casino at the racetrack. Is it true they have like shuttle buses between casinos? |
PNE is good times..it's like everyone's first job aside from Mcdicks dogshow + mini donuts are great..everything else is crap. especially the 'parade' |
Just came back, i'm so beat. Same ol shiet as usual but still good times. Free admission + walking distance from my house = awesome. |

I just got back as well. The RCMP Musical Ride was awesome. They haven't been here for at least a decade. I've never seen them perform live, either. It's a must see. I always feel a lump in the throat when I hear the song, "Maple Leaf Forever," which is my all time favourite Canadian tune. If you're a FOB, probably not your cup of tea, but long time Canadians would enjoy the show. Tonight was a little special. Toward the end, the dude in charge mentioned that they alway miss out on the singing of our national anthem because they are always outside getting ready to start the show. They were hoping that the audience wouldn't mind if they could be present for the singing of O' Canada. The audience stood up and the singing began. It was a nice touch. The FOB sitting on my right was like, WTF? An older Chinese guy on my left and I sang as loud as we could. So did a lot of people. The pyro show called Kaboom was pretty good. I missed most of it, because I went to the wrong amphitheatre. You need to get there at least half an hour before the show to get any kind of seat. Well worth the wait. They had these bursts of huge flames throughout the show and when they come on, they really warm up the whole area. People say it's fireworks, but it's not the kind that's up high. All of it is set to Beattles music and a few other songs. Cheapest place to get food (no place is cheap) is at White Spot or The Kiwanis food booth. I go to the Kiwanis booth, because it is run by volunteers and the profits go to help the community of East Vancouver. Kids programmes and such. If you're going to get food, might as well spend the money at a place that tries to make a difference. Anyway, the PNE is always good fun. Especially when you're with a bunch of friends. |

I plan on using the gold card next week. If they scan it or whatever, I guess I only get to go once. I don't think I can do PNE more than twice. I only go to see the entertainment. I've had years of brain scrambling on rides. Not much cells left, so no rides. Arcade games are boring. Midway is boring. Before I was married, going to PNE was great. You take whatever girl you wanted to tap that night and that was that. Then after I got married and had kids, going to the PNE took on a whole new meaning - taking kids to the kiddie rides section, then winning them plush toys. Dad's the hero routine. WTH do you do now at my age? Bingo is cool, but every fricken year, I forget to take my marker (no exception this year). I have like a dozen at home. They don't let you play unless you have one, so you end up buying yet another one. BTW, I couldn't find a single bingo booth this year - not that I was looking that hard. |
wheres good food places to go to at the pne? like the one that u have to try? i see lineups at henrys chicken, i heard about Jimmy's Lunch, theres Luigis, |
The new thing this year is deep fried jelly beans. http://www.theprovince.com/life/Deep...472/story.html |
Just used my BC gold for admission yesterday. Went through gate 6 and was just waived through, no scans or anything. They didn't even look at any ID's or names on the card so you can most likely just borrow one from a friend if you do not have time to go to a casino and get one. One of my friends even went through without showing his card because he was not able to pull it out of his pocket in time. I plan to go again another time. |

I go to the PNE every year to check out the Market Place. Have any of you seen that saw from China? That thing is pretty handy. So many wonderful things come out of China, eh Zhang Fei? |
So anyone else think they might kill off this BC Gold Card promo or atleast make it on certain days? Its gotta be costing the PNE big money at the gates b/c its too easy to get in for free. |
They have always had this promo I think, well at least when I was working in gates 4-5 years ago. Not much people no about this, as it was rarely used when I was working. |

Some people aren't old enough. Some people (like me, until last week) avoid the Casinos. BCLC probably pays the PNE quite a bit. I'm pretty sure they tally how many go through the gates. Either that or they have a good estimate of how many go through. |
