Its better for them to investigate and find the true criminal behind it.

5.5 years in jail is still not nearly enough considering he killed two people and ran.

he killed two people, put however many other lives in danger, and ran away from the scene, and he's only getting 5 years?
and this guy, who killed jimmy ng (the cop) in richmond by running a red and t-boning his cruiser, then fled the scene, got 2 years in jail. i did a search of how long he spent in prison and came upon this http://www2.canada.com/theprovince/n...5-9c6df51a88b2
this dude's gonna get out of prison and be behind the wheel, killing more people before we know it
should be sentenced to at least 10 years, if not more. you kill somebody with a gun or a knife, you get charged with a whole shitload and spend 20 or more years behind bars. you kill somebody with a few thousand pounds worth of metal (more of a weapon then a knife, that's for sure) and you get 2-5 years?
fucking bullshit

5 years on.. it is finally said/sad and done
No more appeals etc: Vancouver Porsche hit-and-run driver loses appeal in collision that killed two
A man behind the wheel of a speeding Porsche when it struck and killed two men in Vancouver has lost his conviction appeal.
In June 2010, Paul George Antunes was found guilty of two counts of criminal negligence causing death in connection with the Nov. 2005 deaths of Stanley Wong and John Larkin.
Court heard that just prior to the fatal collision, Wong, Larkin and a third man, Ronnie Chan, had gotten out of a taxicab near a nightclub called the Aqua Luonge.
Seconds after getting out of the vehicle, all three men were hit by the Porsche Cayenne. Wong died instantly and Larkin died later in hospital. Chan was injured but survived.
The Porsche fled the scene. Antunes was arrested later.
The central issue at trial was the identity of the driver.
A police investigation linked Antunes to the car through its registration, which was in the name of a person who had leased the car on behalf of a woman who was in a long-term relationship with Antunues.
The accused’s fingerprint was on a parking permit ticket in the cup holder of the central console of the front seat and on a business card in the glove box.
Antunes’ DNA was also found on blood deposits on the front driver side airbag which deployed on impact. DNA from a man named Miljan Barjaktarovic, who died prior to the trial, was found on the front passenger side airbag and DNA from at least one other person was on the front passenger airbag.
In addition to the criminal negligence causing death counts, Antunes was found guilty of one count of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and three counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
He received a sentence of five and a half years in prison.
On appeal, his lawyers argued that the trial judge had misinterpreted the DNA evidence in finding that there were only two occupants in the car and that Antunes was the driver.
They also argued that the verdicts were unreasonable and unsupported by the evidence.
But a three-member panel of the B.C. Court of Appeal has found that the judge made no such error regarding the number of people in the vehicle.
Even if he made a mistake, it was not critical to the judge’s reasoning process or his findings of guilt, concluded the court.

Good. Too bad the POS didn't get more than 5.5 years.
I've always said this - if you're in an accident where the airbag deploys you're not going to be able to say you weren't driving as there will almost always be DNA on the airbag. Since the airbag is a sealed unit, there's no way they could claim DNA was left there before deployment.

-glad to hear that this guy is going to serve jail time for his deadly driving. I hope the sentencing brings closure for the people affected by this crime.
