| *OFFICIAL* RS - Sony PSP Thread
There's bound to be a bunch of you guys with PSPs out there so I decided to start a thread, hehe.
So yeah, anyone try Tekken: Dark Resurrection? It's awesome, bought the import version, and worth every penny. Graphics are awesome, load times are fast, etc.
New Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is also looking pretty slick, tried it out for half an hour. Got to wait until I get a 2GB stick so I can play the ripped version of it (only the dummy files are ripped, so the .ISO is 1GB)
Anyone know what that new Devhook + VSHEX thing is? I'm still using Devhook 0.46 and it seems to be working totally fine, haha.

i have no idea what the vshex thing is but theres a firmware now thats modded, where u can upgrade to 2.71, have all the ablilites of 1.50 [and still be able to downgrade to that if u want to], and run iso's without a umd in teh drive.
i think it's called "2.71 se-b2"
btw : ace combat x is teh winz. well if u like hte ace combat games. and i have yet to find a good racing game on the psp, it seems that GT mobile is never going to come out with the development of GT HD... |

Oh yeah, but the compatibility currently isn't very good, so I'm sticking with Devhook atm.
Ace Combat seems pretty good, how big is it when compressed?
Ridge Racer seems like a pretty good racer. Burnout Legends is an old one, but still loads of fun to play, haha.

I bought the game yesterday and it kept freezing my psp (over 5 minutes of dark screen like it's loading) 3 times in a row after the 3rd mission.
I mean I could return to the home loading screen but it didn't appear anything was happening to the game.
Gonna go back to best buy and get another one. hopefully that's the problem.
My other games work fine.

Try this guys to run .ISOs on a 2.71FW PSP.
Basically, it emulates 1.50FW allowing you to load Devhook and your .ISOs. http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/821 - Zephyrus' Complete HEN C Package - HEN stands for Homebrew Enabler, and C is the third revision. Quote:
Zephyrus' Complete HEN C Package contents:
--------------------------------
- Homebrew Enabler for 2.71 revision C
- DevHook launcher (by Booster) ported to 2.71
by Dark_AleX (v2 with 2.71 flash support)
- Firmware 1.50 JAP Dump
Instructions
------------
- Copy all contents inside MS_ROOT to the root of your memory stick.
- Go to the PHOTO viewer of the XMB and enter in the folder "HENC".
- If your PSP freezes, reboot your PSP and try again. This is due to
the instabability of the tiff and it'll only be executed at times.
It'll be improved in the near future by Dark_AleX.
- A blue screen will appear the first time you run this program, and
after that, you'll either see:
1) Red: The files couldn't be written to the flash, keep trying.
2) Green: The files were written successfully. The XMB will reboot
shortly. You can now run homebrew in the format prepared
for 2.71. (details below).
- As previously mentioned, the patch will remain resident in memory.
The patch will not be removed, even in sleep mode. Only a hardware
reset will remove the program from memory.
- When you do a hardware reset, you'll have to run the tiff again.
The difference this time is, there won't be a green or red screen
since there's no longer a need to write to flash.
(again, due to the instabability of the tiff, it'll either get
stucked on the blue screen and turns off, or the XMB will reboot
itself shortly after the blue screen.)
If it get stucked, just run the tiff again, and keep trying until
it reboots by itself after the blue screen.
- After you've completed the above steps, you can delete the following
files from the root of your memory stick as they are only needed the
first time this program is executed: pspbtknf.txt, pspbtknf_game.txt,
pspbtknf_updater, and systemctrl.prx. However, don't delete patch.bin,
h.bin and the folder with the tiff, since you will need those the next
time you do a hard reset, so that you can run the patch again.
- Once the patch has been executed, it is independant on the memory stick
contents, so, you can freely swap memory sticks until you have to run
the patch again due to a hard-reset.
- After you've completed the steps above, it's time for you to run the
wonderful 2.71 DevHook port by Dark_AleX. Run the pbp with the title
"DEVHOOK0.4X launcher for 2.71". DO NOT adjust any of the options in
the DevHook menu as it has already been adjusted accordingly. You may
go to "UMD SELECT" in the DevHook menu to choose your ISO/CSO.
- The 1.50 DevHook launcher is also included, so that you can launch it
when you emulate 1.50 (only for people who knows what they are doing).
If you really know what you're doing, you may emulate firmware 1.50 on
your 2.71 by selecting 1.50 from the "FIRMWARE" option in the DevHook
menu. But you'll have to adjust the settings like these:
UMD SELECT > UMD Disc
FIRMWARE > 1.50
CPU CLOCK > 333MHz /166MHz
BOOT SELECT > reboot XMB
OTHER MENU > UMD SFO VERSION > 2.xx to 2.00
Whereas the regular setting for playing ISO/CSO on 2.71 is:
UMD SELECT > YOURGAME.ISO/.CSO > Image+ANYUMD
FIRMWARE > 2.71(flash)
CPU CLOCK > 333MHz /166MHz
BOOT SELECT > reboot XMB
OTHER MENU > UMD SFO VERSION > 2.xx to 2.00
Package Notes
-------------
I've removed the sample files included in the HEN_C by Dark_AleX, as
they are unneccessary for the DevHook port to run. They were included
as sample files for testing, which are pretty useless, at least to me.
In /docs/ directory, I've included the original README files from
original file packages provided by Dark_AleX for the HENB2 and the
the DevHook launcher port for 2.71. You may refer to them if the
instructions in this README file is not clear enough.
The 2.71 > 1.50 emulation is only recommended for advanced users who
knows what they're doing as the emulated 1.50 can run normal homebrews
as if it's a fw1.50, but it may cause errors for some as well. Please
note that the included DevHook 0.45 launcher for 1.5 in this package
is only for you to emulate firmware 2.XX like 2.00, 2.50 or 2.60..
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO EMULATE 1.50 THEN EMULATE 2.71 TO RUN ISO/CSOS.
JUST FOLLOW THE STEPS ABOVE TO RUN ISO/CSO ON YOUR 2.71.
I've also included "X5 Anniversary" Web Portal and some Anime Wallpapers
for you to use in this package. So, have fun with this easy-package! ^^
*I haven't figured out how kernel homebrew works on the new HEN_C,
but HEN_C is still included in this package so that everyone gets
the latest HEN_C bugfixes and stuff. Since this is a noob-friendly
package, I'll not include the sample files, or the checkworks file
from the HEN_C package as they requires users to have acquired an
certain amount of skills to be able to understand and use them.
If you're a experienced user and downloaded this package for
usage-ease, you must download the HEN_C release file seperately
in order to get the files you want because I've only taken out
the crucial files of the HEN_C and not those unnecessary files.
[ This packaged was compiled by Zephyrus on 30th September. ]
[ Please do not hesitate to EMAIL me if you encounter any ]
[ problems. [contactable via email: szehan80@hotmail.com] ]
[ PLEASE DO NOT ADD ME ON MSN BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO HAVE ]
[ MY MSN ACCOUNT FLOODED WITH PSP NEWBIES AND NOOBS... THX ]
All files included in this package are not created by me, credits
to Dark_AleX for the Homebrew Enabler for 2.71 revision C (HEN_C)
and DevHook launcher port for 2.71. The firmware 1.5 jap. dump
was dumped by me on my pure 1.5 jap. set (PSP-1000). Laters..
Kudos to everyone who helped in making everything possible on 2.71!
| http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/806 - eLoader v0.9.9 - Lets you run homebrews on PSPs with 2.50 to 2.71FW with limited kernal access.
Here's a USA dump of the 1.50FW instead of the one supplied in the pack, which is JAP - http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/8 Basically extract it in the DH -> 150 folder (NOT THE 150F).

Yeah, you just need to make sure you don't have a TA-082 motherboard on your PSP.
All you needed was GTA:LCS UMD + 1.5FW dump + the downgrader program I think.

just curious, when I use my PSP to surf the internet. A lot of the times, it won't load the page saying there is "insufficent memory". Does this mean internal memory or the size of my memory card? I just bought a 4 GB memory card, will this solve my problem?

I didn't really like Tekken for PSP, all I found cool was the full CGI cutscenes.
The BEST game I'm playing on PSP right now is Star Trek Tactical Assault. If you are a trek fan, you have to check it out.
I tried Initial D but gave up after I spent 10 minutes trying to get into a race but could not, no matter what buttons I pressed. Stupid japanese game lol...
Just finished Medal of Honor and it was fun while it lasted, however it is a very short game. The campaign does have a distinctly "multiplayer with AI bots" feel to it, with the maps all being designed for MP, and the mission objectives being rather MP-ish (like capture the flag, etc).

I haven't watched videos since like a year ago, haha.
Does anyone locally know where to get replacement PSP faceplates? I accidently scratched my PSP's screen while trying to remove some scratches, haha, or know anywhere to get one of those scratch removal solutions?

A camera and GPS attachment were first announced for the PSP in March 2006. More details are set to be released during Tokyo Game Show 2006.
The GPS receiver will feature support for GPS-enabled games such as a projected re-release or update of Hot Shot Golf, as well in Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. The GPS is set to be priced around ¥6,000, appx. $54 USD.
The “Chotto Shot” (Quick Shot) camera add-on will support a new video and VoIP chat service, as well as photo taking. Both the camera and service are slated for release in Japan in December 2006 for around ¥5,000, appx. $44 USD
| On another note, if anyone needs their PSP downgraded to 1.5, give me a PM. The PSP must not be TA-082 though.

but havent found a good RPG game to stick with yet
