POS Samsung SPH-M500 http://i33.tinypic.com/2nrhcmb.jpg POS Samsung SPH-M500, free from Bell with 2 year contract. (back in 2007) This particular one is assembled from 3 partially dead M500s, one of which was a US import (notice Sprint logo). My first 2 had various parts break so I bought parts from Bell (freaking ripoff), then eBay. Outer display literally broke itself while ON MY DESK. wtf. Notice the nice artistic orange splatter pattern. That mark on the plastic was from a bump, but was there a good 6 months before the display decided to commit suicide. Cracks spiderweb from the other end (ie top) of the display. Charging port broken - have to use a 2nd carcass to charge battery, and swap batteries every morning. Talk time - about 15 minutes. Extended to ~30 minutes if I bring the extra battery with me. mp3 playback ~40 minutes per battery if tied to headphones, ~20 minutes if speakerphone. 2nd battery is too thick (aftermarket) to close phone case - tied to phone with elastic band instead. 9 and # button work intermittently. Just started doing it one day for no reason. Several surfaces on the keypad area are PAINTED. Not even molded plastic. Looked nice when new, but not so much anymore. Drops calls every 5 minutes or so whenever I'm indoors or inside my car (and I have a double sunroof). Bell insists there's NO problem with network or phone. I can hear people fine (the speaker is half-decent) but all of my friends have told me they have to guess 20-30% of what I'm actually saying on most calls, eg Do you *static* go for dinner *static* night, with *static*? Bluetooth volume (I have it integrated with my car radio) sucks on the mic end even when set to max, so I have to "yell" when talking inside my own car. Other people driving by probably think I'm schizophrenic. Samsungs suck. Never again.. |

New phone, yay~ LG Xenon. :D It's no iPhone for sure and it's not the most intuitive to use, but so far everything is better than that POS Samsung. http://reviews.cnet.com/i/bto/200904...on_610x511.jpg Just imagine the phone with a Bell logo instead of AT&T. Oh, and Bell only has it in matte black and purple. Like any straight male, I took black. Phone's a bit clunky to use and I'm definitely on the fence on whether I like the interface, but think I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. *starts 3-year timer* |
