| Massage / Spa Parlours - Where to go?
Hey,
Anyone know any good massage / spa parlours in Richmond, Burnaby or Vancouver area?
I just gave my 2 weeks notice at my current job & I would like to abuse the work benefits. Here is what I am entitled to:
"Charges for the services of the following paramedical practitioners are covered:
Masseur > limited to a max benefit of $300 per calendar year"
Now, with the RS members that have experience with this: Does the massage specialist have to be certified? What should I look for?
I would like to use the full $300 benefit up front to buy a "package" of sessions. Also, it would be a bonus if the parlour can back date the invoices and bills so I can claim $600 for 2006 as well as 2007.
I have about 10 days to abuse this benefit so help an RS'er out!

Spa Utopia is pretty good.
You'll probably have a better chance going through with it if you went to certified specialists.
Also, make sure there isn't a stipulation in there that states it's only valid in cases where you were injured and require the use of a masseur.

Yes,
I have double checked that. At our company, there is a massage specialist that comes into our office and offers massage service on a weekly basis.
I see co-workers claim that type of service, so I am assuming it is ok for me to go ahead with out a doctors note.

I had a friend who told me you can get laid at the Spa Utopia place, but I could never find anything on the site relating to that except "Full body massage"

That's not to say that there's not some under the table scenarios going on between a specific employee -- you'll find someone looking to take advantage of the situation anywhere you go.

Make sure you go to a legit one that gives out a receipt if you want it covered by your work. Don't be expecting to go to Swan Lake to get a massage paid for by your company. Although I believe Swan Lake got shut down.

not sure what company you're covered by, but for my company, we only cover 'registered massage therapists'.
a lot of my coworkers go to back to wellness center on lougheed where the winners/saveon/sharksclub is located.
you should make sure by calling your provider and asking if it's 'rmt's only, or else you might not get your money back.

Find a registered massage therapist. If you have benefits for massage and such, you're able to claim it with any RMT.

You better double check with your benefits provider. I know with my benefits package, they will only cover REGISTERED Massage Therapists. So, if you go to a 'Parlour' with extras...I don't think you'll get reimbursed.
I've gone to Spa Utopia (by the North Van Automall) and it was pretty good, and yes, I was able to claim my expenses from there.
