Nice looking car. Who cares what it used to be?

TRDkoo 02-12-2007 09:13 PM

This one is way nicer than this super ugly silver tiburon by my house. =)

_TiDy_ 02-12-2007 09:47 PM

wow very nice!

97ITR 02-12-2007 10:14 PM

Nicely done Tiburon. WTF is up with the ugly ass welds on the turbo piping though.. ugh...

asian_XL 02-12-2007 10:53 PM

^ probably can't find the right PVC pipes at homedepot

Mananetwork 02-13-2007 12:30 AM

Very clean clean, very hot!!

LOL I think we're all feeling the same way.

AzNightmare 02-13-2007 09:42 AM

Oh this reminds me...
You know how the back is sloped downards.

I saw this girl driving a black Tiburon with a wing attached on the back, but it gave the car upforce...

You guys might know her if you went to Arts Institute in burnaby.

yup. exactly how i feel.

ngstinc 02-13-2007 10:17 AM

aren't the resale value on tiburons REALLY low in comparison with the msrp? eh, i'd still drive it.

Sketch 02-13-2007 12:53 PM

I like Hyundais, the new Tiburons are hot, that one you posted in particular. They just have such nice, simple, almost conservative lines; it's refreshing when contrasted to the hideous crap that Nissan and Toyota are making.

The rumor mill keeps saying that the next gen is going to be a proper lightweight RWD coupe; also refreshing besides, the Japanese don't even know how to make a RWD car under 4000lbs. anymore.

SE3P-T 02-13-2007 12:54 PM

1,8bar?? crazy?

SiNzz 02-13-2007 12:55 PM

I like the latest style tiburons, and that one must be a beast. Props to the owner for building probably the fastest tib out there.

ninjatune 02-13-2007 05:51 PM

I like it, and I think it would be perfect if it was RWD!

I agree completely. Unfortunately they don't have a decent enough powerplant suspension combo to back up the looks. I drove the V6 when it first came out, and it was like dancing with a fat chick in a tight dress. Sure the power was there, but there was nothing useful you could do with it.

You know what, that's an interesting take. Having owned and been around GK-chassis Tiburons (including 4 cylinder, V6 and several friend's supercharged V6 models), I have the following take; communicative chassis, solid and adaptable suspension, fantastic 6-speed gearbox, acceptable though simple interior, great seats..... ALL of which is combined with boring engines that, at least when naturally aspirated, offer ZERO thrills to the driver.... the car is also pignosed and heavy body. The car, no matter what the trim, weighs in at 3000lbs. That's big for a coupe.

I have a couple of friend's in Seattle who added Alpine's bolt-on Supercharger to their V6 Tiburons. The Supercharger changes EVERYTHING. Suddenly that big, inefficient V6 makes sense. First and second gear become useless with immense wheel-spin and the supercharger whine drowns out the surrounding environment entirely. In recent years I have only really been surprised/scared by sudden acceleration a couple of times. Once was in Buster's WRX last year and the other time was when I first rode in my friend Jacob's Supercharged Tiburon... he shifted into second, hit the throttle and the front wheels hooked up (running Michelin Pilot Sports) instantly and the car screamed forward with immense stride wow. My other friend with a Supercharged Tiburon in Seattle is producing 284 wheel horsepower and 268lb. ft. of torque. He'll readily admit that that sort of power overpowers the front wheels on anything but perfect pavement, but what a supercharged V6 does is bring the entire GK chassis to life~~~ it's a good car, blessed with bad factory engine options... just shame it wasn't RWD. ;)

looks clean

Timpo 02-14-2007 04:41 PM

ok, it is still a Hyundai...

and Hyundai or not, 400hp from 2.0L 4cyl isn't THAT impressive.

people with the Silvia S13 have accomplished that much power with SR20DET how many years ago?

Most S15 Silvia people can accomplish that much power quite easily too anyways...or even Lancer EVO, Celica GT-Four, etc.

I mean...I don't think getting 400hp out of 2.0L 4cyl turbo is THAT big of accomplishment.

Sunfighter 02-14-2007 05:38 PM

Oh
my
gawd

Timpo, shut up and stop taking things out of context. Never once did I say that this was the first 400hp Tiburon, I simply stated that is happened to be a nice example of a 400hp Tiburon (of which there are many!). It's also noteworthy that this is a private, daily-driven example, not some vendor-owned trailer-queen.

Given that Hyundai's Beta-II's ancestry is tied intimately to that of Mitsubishi's 4G63 it shouldn't be surprising that this power is accessible via turbocharging.

I can accomplish that kind of power out of my own car with very little effort... but that shouldn't and DOESN'T make this GK any less of an accomplishment.

unless YOU are in the process of making a 400WHP car, you have no right to to say that it is NOT a big "accomplishment".

Sky.J 02-14-2007 10:51 PM

^ agreed... I own a V6 tiburon..
Luv it... wish I had the money to turbocharge it :(
here are some more pictures of his car...

Horsepower per litre doesn't mean anything Timpo. Only fucking idiots who don't know what the fuck they're talking about quote hp/l figures. Jesus Christ... I've seen some retarded posts in my day but somehow you ALWAYS top them.

Tai Chi 02-18-2007 12:12 AM

Always like the look of Tibs and the price is very reasonable for what u get.
