Attractive 2.0l turbocharged GK Tiburon

I know a lot of people here have a pretty strong bias against anything that isn't considered "cool," but I still think this is a pretty neat little project. And since it's the lighter 2.0l motor, rather than the bulk and inefficient V6, the car doesn't suffer from quite as much death-inducing understeer as it might otherwise.

Keep in mind, Hyundai's 2.0l Beta-series engines were effectively built by robbing Mitsubishi's 4G63 parts bin.

From the owner: "Since people think more whp is the better, I wanted to go with something that makes a lot of power while still reliable. So I went with Garrett GT3071 turbo which is known for fast spool up time. We all custom fabricated turbo manifold to roll cages except for few things that were needed from outside of Korea such as turbo, injectors, and waste gate. Believe or not, all the fabrication was done by 1 person in 2 weeks. After break-in period of new hardware, it took out 401.98whp@ wheels. Few weeks after, it took out 432.43 whp after removing the race cat."

Geez, you guys are fuckin' brutal! It makes more than 400hp, and it's definately one of the nicest Tibs I've seen, give it some credit.

Because it's better to ignore them than incite some sort of on-going flamewar that simply degrades any thread that's posted here.

ctsport 02-12-2007 02:58 PM

props to the owner and his team :D

GordonTse 02-12-2007 03:07 PM

Sean@Home 02-12-2007 03:12 PM

I know im gonna get flamed for this so here it goes. I've really liked that body style tiburon since it came out, this one is gorgeous. I think its one of the best looking import cars.

DB9 02-12-2007 03:28 PM

Good_KarMa 02-12-2007 03:38 PM

raven69 02-12-2007 04:41 PM

looks really good. ive always been a fan of those cars. too bad its wrong-wheel drive. real cars lift the front wheels, they dont power them ;)

GreenAccord 02-12-2007 04:46 PM

That looks awesome nice work. Too bad hyundai didnt make the tib a rwd now that would be even more awesome.

LiquidTurbo 02-12-2007 04:57 PM

who cares if its a hyundai?

Technically, its a good piece of work. I like it.

one2one 02-12-2007 05:08 PM

I think its nice.

Ikkaku 02-12-2007 05:20 PM

as much as it aches me not to say"it's just a Hyundai", I like this one a lot. It's very slick. Good job to the owner of the car!

AzNightmare 02-12-2007 06:00 PM

400hp, how light is it?

must be really fast.
but FWD? won't it torquesteer like crazy?

I personally like the Tiburon. If it was RWD, I'm sure many would of gave it a lot more respect.

Leopold Stotch 02-12-2007 06:36 PM
