Just picked up a 17 & 21 degree Adams Super Hybrid XTD with Fubuki shaft. Holy S### does this club fly far. Bought it to replace my old TM 2.0 21 degree hybrid and it now easily goes farther by 15 yards.

This channel technology is amazing. Despite the looks of it, the distance speaks for itself, especially when you are using just a short 17 HYBRID and easily out driving people at the range with drivers!

You guys have any good suggestions for full size courses, in the lower mainland? Particularly ones that don't rape your wallet?

Just like any other sport, I know it's expensive, but there must be some good, cheap-ish courses out there.

The ones I usually play (Carnoustie once, Golden Eagle a couple times, 18 Pastures a few times) My friends and I appreciate courses that aren't jammed with people, we all know how that can suck.

We just want to stop going to the par 3's all the time. Although fun, we need some new full courses to explore :)

Newlands in Langley is best value in lower mainland IMO. $50 with a cart.

Falls reopened, bit of a drive but $59 with a cart for a beautiful course. Worth the drive if you have the time.

Nico-Wynd in S Surrey is a nice little reasonably priced course as well. Only 9 holes but 2 flags per green if you want to play 18 and switch it up a little.

I'm about to head out to Peace Portal, $63 no cart.. not bad. Belmont is about the same price IIRC.. know Redwoods lowered their rates as well.

I live up the street from Morgan Creek but only play it once or twice a year since its so damn expensive. Twilights arent bad but I can't get out in the evenings often.

Just starting the game...
Any opinions/reviews of the Top Flite Inertia full club set they're selling at Costco?

I still say find yourself a set of quality used clubs, even if they're a few years old

Wow newlands raised their prices eh. I recall us playing it on a Sunday AM for 35 with cart.

Belmont is the next one we will try I think. After 3pm is about 29. After 4 is 25 and after 5 is $19. Any reviews on this?

We played peace portal on twilight (27$) and it was pretty good. I didn't expect the uphill/downhill walks tho.It was a good leg workout lol

My buddy recommends redwoods and speak of it highly. Any of u play that?

punkwax 07-29-2012 08:30 AM

Redwoods is a nice course. So is Belmont. Couple nice elevated tees at Belmont as well.

Yes, PP is a grind to walk. I got a cart but it made the round cost $88 after tax :(

N.V.M. 07-29-2012 09:14 AM

in the summertime, Belmont has hottie cart girls to give you and your bag/pushcart a ride up to the top after the 9th and 18th.

cdizzle_996 07-29-2012 09:26 AM

I play Belmont a few times a year, I tend to play some of my best rounds there.

I like Redwoods, but its a bit pricy IMO.

If you're willing to drive everyone needs to play Sandpiper at least once.

I played in a company best ball tourny at Fort Langley and thought it was decent for the price..Its not an amazing course, but its fairly cheap ($50 at peak time)

Anyone here play Pagoda Ridge yet? I know a couple people who have and they both said it was really nice. Supposed to be a tough course. I'll be sure to play it this season.

I have a tee time booked there for Sunday. Will let you know.

Check out the Sun earlier this week: they reviewed it.

Pagoda Ridge might drive you up a wall, which is the novel idea

bluejays 08-02-2012 08:54 PM

Pagoda looks like a nice course, and decently priced as well. I'll have to try it out once my fractured hand heals :rukidding:

fyi.. Golftown clearance event going on right now for you equipment junkies.. not sure how goood these are tho.. anyone been to one before?

Another CRAZY finish at the Wgc tourney.

Eff-1 08-05-2012 08:56 PM

Played Pagoda today. A few observations for those who are interested in checking it out:

The course definitely is still under construction. For example:

The clubhouse temporarily housed in one of the maintenance buildings at the moment. So don't expect huge amenities. No washrooms on the course but there are port-o-johns scattered around. Parking lot is still unpaved, there's no practice area or putting green. And the big one: Carts are limited supply at the moment. Book a tee time early or plan on walking because all the carts will be out on course. But definitely get a cart, there's a LONG hilly walk between 10 and 11. If you do get a cart, it was disappointing to note that because the grass is still so new, it was cart paths only today which kind of sucked.

As for the course itself, some fairways are pretty wide which is nice. However, the primary rough is deep and sticky! The secondary rough and brush along side is awful. If a ball goes in there, good luck finding it. So yes I lost quite a few balls today. Bring lots. And because the course is still new, there aren't many others to find when you lose yours, haha.

The greens were in good shape. However the 18th fairway still has lots of growing to do. There was more sand than grass there.

One thing I especially liked was the area is really really quiet. No traffic noise, no airplanes, or anything like that. It's very peaceful and serene. The 10th has some really nice views overlooking the Fraser Valley.

Oh yes the Asian theme. The buildings have those classic Japanese roofs. There's an old Chinese junk boat in the middle of one of the water hazards (looks like a pirate ship) and a replica of the Great Wall bordering one of the greens on the back 9. Was all kind of weird if you ask me.

After tax and splitting a cart, it was $90. For $90 there's lots of nice golf to choose from that's closer to where I live (Vancouver). Don't think I'll return, at least not this year.

anyone play at the new tsawwassen springs?

Saturn2nr 08-10-2012 08:21 PM

Just picked up a set of Nike VRPro blades today at golf town. 500 bucks on sale this weekend. No way I was going to pass that deal up!

Pooface55 08-27-2012 11:33 AM

Went to the LPGA tourney on thursday. They are so straight and so easy to look at :) Hope they come again.

Saturn2nr 09-25-2012 05:29 PM

Took the new clubs out yesterday for the first time, shot an 80. All I can say is wow. The accuracy I had all game was unreal and I was able to stick every green even though they were rock hard. Looking forward to the next round, that's for sure.

78 from the tips at Redwoods today, I think I'll make that my final round of the year.

Not bad considering I doubled 18.

Shot a -2, 70 at Mt. Lorette in Kananaskis yesterday! Everything was clicking! These new Nike blades I got are really working for me. My driver was going where I wanted it to, still need to get it fitted, but I was bombing them all game. I had 4 drives that ranged from 330y to 355y and I averaged about 300 on the rest of them. What a way to finish the season!

Ha, it was one of those rounds where I played smart. It's not often on a 430yd par 4 I'd hit a 3 iron off the tee to be safe but I did. I played smart, layed up instead of "going for it"

On the final hole, I did just that. 300yd drive, went or it in 2, came up short and left myself with a terrible bunker shot, leading to a double..

Americans blew it today!

Shot an 85 at Furry Creek on Friday. One of the best rounds of my life. Golf is a lot easier when you're driving it straight and have a clean 2nd shot. lol.

Drove the 285yd par 4 9th, missed my eagle but drained birdie. No 3 putts, no triple bogies and 2 birdies. Great day for me.
