golfed friday(Riverway). golfed sunday(Riverway). golfed monday(Seymour), driving range yesterday. heading out today to, i dunno yet.

Played for the first time this year, only 9 holes at Nico-Wynd but shot 4 over so I was happy. Hit draws and fades when I needed to, so felt good about that! Tap in birdie on a par 4 after a nice drive then stuck a 7 iron to about a foot or so. Felt good.

Switching to a set of forged Bridgestone blades for the season. I know I don't have a good enough swing for these but damn do they feel soft when struck well... even though I'm about 5-10 yards shorter lol.

It doesn't matter- once you hit forged you can't go back lol.

Happened to me when I switched to blades. My handicap went up a few notches but in the end I'm a better golfer for it and my handicap is much lower than I ever had it. Going from GI irons to blades makes the flaws in your swing stand out, but if you keep at it, you'll be that much better than before.

How's Eaglequest' driving range? Or should I look elsewhere?

Shot an 83 at Newlands without even touching my clubs this year. Dropped a 25ft putt for bird on a par 5. Decent warmup. Time to tackle Redwoods :)

Coquitlam is ok. Ball deals are brutal compared to, say, Burnaby Mountain. I do like the targets, but they're fading and the distances are way off (as seen with my friend's laser rangefinder).

I've never been to Surrey. And it's been way too long since I've been to Musqueum.

I was thinking about seting up an RS pitch and putt meet at Central Park or Kensington. I have no idea how it'll work but who's down?

It's a bit further, but it's better to head down to Delta for Sunshine Woods. Still a par3, but the holes are longer. Greens are pretty inconsistent, but they take reservations and can accommodate bigger parties. After 5pm the rates are so low that I find it a better value than p&p in Van/Burnaby.

That's assuming you have a lot of interest lol otherwise it's probably not worth the drive. Though it's mostly highway, so that might be worth something considering this is a car forum lol

Sunshine woods is pretty bad.. Meridian is worth the extra 15 min drive IMO if you want a par 3. Delta is all par 3s and 4s right in the same area and worth the extra $ as well...

Really? They are pretty comparable.

Coquitlam = 6.25 for a buck of 60 balls. $0.104/ball
Membership = $37.95 = 7 units of 60 balls = $0.090 /ball
10 units = $58.99 = $0.099 / ball

Burnaby's pricing include gst, Coquitlam doesn't.
But if you go between 7:30-9:30am, 1-3pm, 7-9pm...Eaglequest offer 50% more ball per unit.

Burnaby Mtn also has "happy hour" where you get a 50% bonus:

M-F 8-930am in addition to the above.

I guess it depends where you live and which place is closer. The prices have lowered since I've last been to Eaglequest, but as I said earlier I prefer having their targets to fire at. There's just random yardage markers at Burnaby Mountain.

Which is cheaper and better overall, Savage Creek Driving Range or Richmond Driving Range?

For cost I would say they are comparable. The savings really come when you purchase in bulk like 50 buckets for 180 = $3.6 per bucket of 60 balls.

Overall I would say Richmond Driving Range is better, they got better facilities like mats, new range balls, short game practice area, grass tees and cleaner environment to practice in. The only drawback is when they are busy its hard to get a slot.

Savage creek use to be good until they got bought out and decided to try and build a 9 hole course. Its a fun range to go and hit with buddies as they have a lot of space to accommodate.

After years of forged blades I finally taking my ego aside and moving away from full blades to a combo cavity/blade set.

Moving from Mizuno MP-57 3-PW -Project X 5.5 to TaylorMade 2014 CB/MC TP Combo - C Tapers.

Love the feel and look of blades, but they are unforgiving on even the slightest of miss from the sweet spot

^ Yeah, I might do the same eventually but i'll give it a little bit more time with the forged blades until I go back to my trusty Hogan Bh-5's.

Played QE pitch and putt yesterday to tune up the game. I was sticking it 3-4 ft from the pin with my new-to-me vokey 52. Kept 3 putting through b/c I brought the wrong putter and greens were extremely fast.

30th round of the year yesterday. most at Riverway, then Fraserview, Northlands, Golden Eagles, and Seymour.

now that its golf season, lol, i will be checking out a lot more golf courses.

I played my first round of the year yesterday at Pagoda Ridge. Shot a 79 with 2 doubles in wind that damn near rivaled St. Andrews

at the Players. lol.

Kills me that the Players ends on Mothers Day. Snuck in as much as possible but didn't see what happened with Spieth.. boo-urns.

I need to buy some new balls and I'm curious to learn what you guys are playing.

I generally like softer, grippier balls as I tend to have a pretty low ball flight, so I need the spin to hold greens that are protected in front. Distance isn't really much of a concern since I hit 270-290 yards w/ a 12 degree driver using decade-old Top Flite Stratas (Considering multi-piece balls were in their infancy at that time, I suspect that modern balls will go even further).

I really have no idea what I'm looking for, though I think what I'm looking for is kind of in the $30-$55/dozen range (i.e. NXT Tour, Pro V1, B330, etc.). Online reviews seem to just be regurgitating marketing propaganda.

Any input would be appreciated.
