sry about jacking yoru thread.. but i was just wondering if anyone here knew what kind of paint i can use to paint the grills of a black 8th gen civic (the silver part, which imo looks ugly) since the topic about paint was brought up. thanks. |
General maintenance 4.04 (1) Lighting devices required by this Division must be maintained in good working order. (2) Lamps and reflectors required by this Division (c) must not be shielded, covered or obscured by any part of the vehicle or load or by dirt or other material " Let alone the legal aspects here, why would anyone want their brake/signal/tail lights etc to be harder to see by other drivers? Looks nice but asking for trouble. |

yea just bring your car out to the spring meet and we can get it done, just bring some green painters tape and some kind of large cover we can put over the rear of your car. Then I just use an exacto knife to cut the taillight pattern, painters tape for small openings to make sure the only thing exposed is the taillight, and then whip out the VHT spray. I still got half a can left so I'll bring the spray, and I dont have anything else we need so you bring the rest. Quote:

^ the emblems no because I ended up using flat black spraypaint since the VHT wouldnt stick and it wasnt meant for any other materials than plastic. The taillights came out good though |
crap did u try to sand em |
i dont like how tinted tail lights give that dull hazy look, makes the lights look old. Unless you shot a layer of clear after that, but i dont know how clear coat will react to vht base. |
i went for the straight black look instead of smoked...i think it looks way better then smoked lights.. http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/5252/dsc00945ph4.jpg |
sorry for digging up an old thread, but do they still sell VHT at Mopac or Lordco? |
to Adon: did u get any cop trouble for having darker tail lights yet? im thiking of doing the same thing on my evo |
it'd be dope if I can get away with smoked tails |
no they don't have VHT at Lordco, they probably have it at Mopac though, they do have VHT at that car store in Metrotown however.... the one right next to the food court... I saw some VHT spray there for sale the other month for $14.. and no I've never been hassled by cops for the darker tails, I didn't do it too dark.. maybe if I over did it I would have had problems. I would suggest that you guys do a coat of gloss afterwards, as you can see in my pictures it looks pretty dull on my taillights, very matte.... I've gotten a new set of taillights since and left them stock. |
go to the lexus forums. They have been doing the black chrome emblems for a long time. You might find info there. |
Mopac supplies lordco with VHT, but lordco charges crazy $$ if you don't have a decent account. |
