Jason is right, females get more horned out over boats and nice downtown condos than they do over cars. Problem is, especially in Vancouver, almost everyone has a nice Porsche, Lambo, Benz or Ferrari that they're leasing.

Had a good week on the markets, no yacht tho, but looking at a new Bayliner 320 :)

ws6ta 06-13-2008 11:10 AM

how about a 50' maruder

http://www.grandsportcenter.com/images%2007/50mar1.jpg

the reason I don't have a boat is I can't swim. I can't swim because I'm scared of the water. I'll stick with cars. Maybe a jet one day or just an account with net jets.

7seven even if one were to lease a ferrari or lambo it still isn't cheap. plus the leasing company rapes you when you try to break the lease. i don't lease any of my cars I pay for them. if you have to lease it you can't afford it buy something a little shittier. well thats the rule I follow since in your taxes you can't claim more then 800 for vehicle anyways. On top of that your still allowed to claim 800 even if you don't have a lease.

when I inquired about leasing the payments were something like 175k down 6k a month for 3 years just to pay something like a 200k buyout. oh and lets not forget you have to garuntee the buyout. you don't just drive the car and say ok fuck ill just throw them the keys when im done. lets see some joe blow pull that off. anyways I'm not here to argue about the advtantages or disadvantages of leasing, or talk about who is leasing and who paid for their car balh blah blah

to those guys that just love the gtr don't forget its just a nissan. if you want one bad right away your going to pay a huge markup which I would never do not even on a 599gtb and I love that car! I'd rather just wait and get one whne they are at msrp or below within the next 2 years.

you're misreading what I said, and no I'm not emotional at all, I'm not a mindless GTR fanboy like Timpo... but you're missing the point bigtime man, it's not about the numbers of the GTR or the performance, it's about the the aura that surrounds certain cars because they possess something no other cars do. In this case the GTR does posses something that is very very rare, and you or anyone else can disagree with me on that, but that means having to disagree with the whole automotive world as well.

I personally think when cars are bought the main factors that should be brought into consideration are what the car stands for and what it represents, as well as it looking good and performing well. But in that order I just listed though, and true car enthusiasts buy cars in that same manner there. And you know that because when you look at Jay Leno's garage for example his most prized possessions are slow ass classic cars that are timeless and represent things like a certain era, or a certain event that took place.
Ford GT for example to me at least represents the first time in the 60's when it arrived, and it whupped Ferrari at Le Mans and did a one two finish. If I ever bought a Ford GT that's the reason I would be buying it for, cuz for damn sure it wouldn't be because it's a Ford. :haha:

and the way you talk about cars seems like you buy them just because they'll look nice or you'll get the most attention with the drop top model, I'm not gonna assume so I'm gonna ask you, am I right about that or wrong?

I wasn't implying that you lease your vehicles, I have no idea if you do or not and to each their own. I'm just saying Ferraris, Porsches, etc are a dime a dozen these days in downtown Vancouver, but maybe its just the circle I run in, one job I work with actors, the other I work with stock brokers/promotors & the majority of the ppl i know are in those circles, so it seems like everyone has a high end luxury or sports car.

Hell I just got back from lunch in Coal Harbour and there where 2 Ferraris, a Aston Martin and 3 Porsches parked outside the restaurant lol. I'm going to an after market event in a bit being thrown by a mining magazine and stock promotors, I can guarantee I'll be seeing even more of the same there.

justsomeguy604 06-13-2008 01:22 PM

^ It's getting moreso in Vancouver. A lot of people cashing out of real estate or tapping into that new found home equity to buy some nice rides.

I respect the GTR for what it can do but it doesn't have that wow factor you get from an exotic. An old Ferrari might be slower than an STI but it's the look and the grace that make it so much more.

The GTR is never going to be a classy car like a DB9 either.

It's the image with the car. You get out of a Ferrari or an Aston with a suit, sophisticated and suave. You get out of a GTR with a backwards cap and a T-shirt.

Different cars altogether. A car is more than numbers on a comparison sheet, it's an extension of the person who drives it (typically).

As for boats. This is my favorite:

http://www.wally.com/jumpCh.asp?idUs...l=44&idLang=IT

It's quite pricey though.

I never said "your G35" was riced out.I said people that don't know cars will think the GT-R is another riced out G35.

i only buy cars that I think look good to my eyes. I don't care about performance I care about when I open the garage that my cars look appealing to me. if all i wanted to do was have everyone stare at my cars I'd go and heavily modifiy a few and everyone would stare. all my cars have tinted windows except the lambo for the same reason. I don't get any thrill out of people gawking although at times it does feel good!

Harvey Specter 06-13-2008 03:11 PM

Fuck the cars, do it big and buy yourself a Gulfstream 550...lol.

How does the car FORCE you to dress like a tool?

monster killer 06-13-2008 04:17 PM

^cause only a tool would spend that kind of money on a Nissan and not a Porsche.

50 million from a vat scam and didn't get busted. thats pretty sweet. the way they do those vat scams it seems too easy to do...anyone know in detail how the scam works?

BMW M5 - the most exciting 4 door sedan on the planet
Audi S8 - just a wonderful audi

Aston Martin DBS
Maserati Granturismo
Ferrari 599 GTB
BMW M6 vert

Maserati Quattroporte - the most beautiful sedan on the planet agree it looks great
BMW M5 - the most exciting 4 door sedan on the planet hate the smg tranny & don't like bmws very much anyways
Audi S8 - just a wonderful audi best car on the list so far, my dad is buying one

Aston Martin DBS gorgeous car just don't care for it personally (sorry AM fans lol)
Maserati Granturismo almost bought one way too slow
Ferrari 599 GTB black with tan interior f1 sitting at ferrari and maserati of vancouver waiting to be delivered tried very hard to buy it but not possible :( owner won't sell...only car I have ever offered over msrp on even though I swear I wouldn't pay over msrp. wonder if prices will drop on these things like the 550 and 575's fell (they sell for less then 360s now...would be a shame to see a f430 getting more money then a 599 even if it was 7-8 years from now
BMW M6 vertonce again don't really like bmw and dont' like the looks of the m6 enough to buy one unless of course the price was much lower then it is....at over 100k hell no

that should give you an idea of what type of taste I have.
