| why you shouldn't use a filter in front of your lens if you want the best imagquality
people use filters to protect their lens, but i only use a lens hood with no filter.
anyway i was reading this canon technical report:
• Adoption of meniscus lenses
Most super-telephoto lenses have a protective glass at the front. When this glass has a flat surface, the light that reflects off the image sensor reflects back from the protective glass, occasionally resulting in spot-shaped ghost.
To eliminate this phenomenon, all of Canon's large-aperture IS super-telephoto lenses adopt a meniscus lens shaped protective glass.
The meniscus lens is spherical and has curvature with same direction on both sides. By employing the meniscus lens as protective glass, the reflected light from the image sensor forms an image in front of the image sensor, and then diffuses. The majority of the diffused light deviates from the image sensor, thus preventing ghost (see Fig. 4). |

Damn cold, dirty, and crappy all around. Some good places for coffee and Italian food though. I went to the Vistek store too...3 floors of photographic goodies!

Anyone know any cheap places to buy a fold up reflector? L&S has them for around $100, but that seems pricey for a wire and some fabric. Should I look at ebay ones? or is there a local store that has better pricing?

or if you could recomend any other DVD camcorders in the same price range... | Staples.ca has it for $496.86
Dell Canada has it for $429.00
Free shipping i believe (over a certain amount) and plus taxes it's $485 total (i believe it's in CAD$) http://accessories.dell.com/sna/prod...1&sku=A0972953 |

For those who shoot RAW, I highly recommend Rawshooter Essentials 2006. It's the most incredible RAW editor software I've tried. Highly intuitive user interface, phenomenal batch conversion ability, and excellent RAW renditions!
And to show off the image quality, here is a shot converted from RAW: Rocky sir rock a lot.
Cheers,
~S

Capture One Pro is great if you enjoy spending hours with each RAW file, finicking with every single feature.
Of course the extra features Capture One Pro offers are useful for some images, but when it comes to fast and effective RAW editing, I still prefer Rawshooter Essentials.

I'll check it out. I just use adobe raw converter.
But now that I'm getting paid work, I think workflow is pretty important to me.
