Computer desk chairs..

uhg..is there any place that has a large selection of fairly priced office chairs? i'm looking for somthing bigger style, leather or not, but comfortable and soft

I looked today at Costco, Office depot, staples, and the brick, All of these places seem so fuckin overpriced! like the only one that i would have liked to have was a stupid 349$ one at office depot which was like some special stupid seemens posterpedic one :/

im willing to spend anything under 250$ on a chair, costco had some decent ones on sale for 139$ leather, fairly comfy but the ass part felt kinda short, anyways i was gonna go and buy that one, I wait in line for 15 minutes only to get to the register and have some lady tell me they dont accept visa...

jackmeister 04-04-2008 05:50 PM

have you tried ikea? maybe something will feel good?

nns 04-04-2008 06:01 PM

Ikea has very poor quality computer chairs.

Try Office Depot or Staples.

Hondaracer 04-04-2008 06:11 PM

hmm ikea is an option, and as i said office depot and staples in langley really didnt have anything i wanted..

looking more for perhaps smaller individual stores then big box chain stores?

wix 04-04-2008 06:13 PM

I got mine at costco, feels perfect unless you're a really big guy and I can understand the seat part being too short (my old chair was like that). costco has the awesome refund/exchange policy there too, and it's a good chair

Hondaracer 04-04-2008 07:07 PM

if all else fails i'm going to go with the costco one, just was ready to crack some heads after i found out they dont take visa lol

Yeah, Costco only takes American Express ... They want you to sign up for their premium membership ...

FlyNvBaller 04-04-2008 10:40 PM

check out JYSK!

DragonChi 04-05-2008 04:40 PM

superstore has computer chairs too

sh0n 04-05-2008 05:43 PM

I got the black leather chair from Costco.

Highly recommend it - about $130+ taxes

Unkno 04-05-2008 06:40 PM

got mine from walmart and costco

jeem2 04-05-2008 07:44 PM

what about xs cargo?

rexilla 04-10-2008 11:17 AM

yeah ikea.. or auctions??

scheng924 04-10-2008 12:27 PM

ikea actually has pretty good ones
there's this one at ikea for 149 and it feels really good..

but i guess it depends on your body weight and size and what kind of comfort you get... everyone's different

staples used to have some good ones on sale at times for $199.. but u have to wait for the right time..

are you in a hurry for one?

gars 04-10-2008 12:39 PM

i've seen a store that sells what you're looking for. it's on 4th, just east of Arbutus. if it isn't too far - you should check it out. I don't know the price ranges they have in the store - but it doesn't look too crazily overpriced.

RCubed 04-11-2008 01:05 AM

ableauctions. I got such a comfortable chair for only $150

TypeRNammer 04-11-2008 02:27 AM

how about a replica recaro bucket seat with wheels?

b0unce. [?] 04-11-2008 07:34 AM

craigslist

Hondaracer 04-11-2008 02:28 PM

ended up going with the 135$ one from costco, it's pretty comfortable and im sure it will be perfect once it's more broken in :)

nice chair! I should get one too!

pauche 04-11-2008 08:50 PM

try econowise. they have a large selection and the quality is very good.

wish I had seen this thread earlier... would've advised against the Costco chair

I bought a similar chair from them 2 years ago and after a year and a half one of the arms literally exploded on me when I was pushing down on it, and the other arm is dying as well. It squeaks like a motherf*cker too. Absolute piece of sh*t.

Ikea has sh*t chairs as well. I'm spending at least $200+ on my next one.

Hondaracer 04-12-2008 03:23 AM

^ i took extra precaution all the screws were in really well and not sideways etc. so hopefully it lasts a while lol

but yea if this one bites the dust sooner then expected im definately spending 200+ as well slif, the amount of time I spend on the computer as of now i should have perhaps made that investment now instead of later..

the problem is everything is SOOOO overpriced everywhere, like office depot etc. has decent stuff but when you sit in it and look at it even if u do have the money to spend, u still gotta think "that isnt worth that price tag"

If you have the receipt or not, couldn't you return the chair with Costco's return policy?

Retailed at $900+, this is the Lamborghini of office chairs:

"Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick, two award-winning industrial designers, created the Aeron® Chair (1994), earning themselves a place in what amounts to the designers' hall of fame-the design collection of New York's MoMA. The Aeron is the apotheosis of ergonomic seating, conceived to conform not only to different human shapes and weights but also to movement. The breakthrough Kinemat® tilt enables the Aeron to smoothly move with the sitter from a forward tilt (when you reach for the phone) to a backward recline (while you contemplate what to say). The Pellicle® web upholstery is yet another innovation both in concept and comfort. It evenly distributes weight over the seat and back and permits air circulation. As for durability, it will look like new long after you retire. Design doesn't get more civilized. The Aeron is made from 66% recycled materials."
