DIY: Make a custom splitter for your OEM/AM bumpers or lips

I posted this on another forum I'm on often and it helped a lot of people out, just thought I'd share with the Van city guys. I'm at Home Depot a lot and I noticed something one day that wasn't meant for what I ended up using it for. I've seen on other forums some guys are doing a similar things with this as well, so there's different ways to do it and for each of yours it will probably be the same as I did it though. For my specific bumper I did it my way, no need to drill holes, just use 3M sticky double sided tape. Pics below.

UPDATED PICTURES FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN THIS MOD

1st, you go to home depot, to the garage door section and buy the rubber lining that goes on the bottom of your garage door

This is the tape you buy at Lordco

And this is how you install it onto the bumper (keep in mind this is the thin 3m tape below, I used the wider one pictured right above for full adhesion)

and here's a picture from a few months ago the first day I installed it

the lip is still holding up very well with minimal sag, but I'm gonna take it off again and redo a fresh new one for the summer. This thing has protected my bumper from various scrapes from not so bad, to very bad scrapes, the lip takes damn near all the impact, if it wasn't for it I doubt I would have any silver paint around the bottom of my bumper.

well you know what, I never even factored in looks when I was doing it. I wanted strictly bumper protection, but it looks good and that's a plus as well.
I was waiting for someone on the other forum I posted it on to call it rice, just because it's such a cheap little mod, but nobody dared, lol.
Rice = something cheap that doesn't have any effect whatsoever on the car
and this thing definitely has an effect, saves my ass from small to major scrapes, and it does look pretty good too

added new pic of a reversed section of the lip so you can attach the lip 3 different ways which is even better.

once you paint it to match your car it also gives the appearance of your car being lower than it actually is, while still protecting it.

and this is how it looks once you reverse it and do install it with the rear side facing frontwards, and as you can see by looking at the middle section of the bumper, since it's very flexible you can curve it to fit and contour to pretty much every front bumper, but it's hard enough not to sag

dark no I dont live at that house, it's my friends house, he sold the blue R33.

mmmk yea the silver G with the same bumper is a buddy of mine, I actually sold him that bumper, I bought 2 of them for myself cuz I was gonna have some custom widebody work done, but I went anothere route and he got a killer deal.

actually I installed this on my buddy Jacky's OEM lip, he has a thread on it on driver, his nickname there is ELE, here's a few pics of it the day I installed it. This was like last year, he sold his car a while ago. I installed it facing the lip forward, I think on the OEM lip it would look better and cleaner if it was done backwards like mine in the pics above.

and here's me bout to paint mine newbie stylezzz.... chinese newspaper method pwnz all!!
