Some high-end component speaker systems can retail for $2500.00
Some low-end component speaker systems can retail for $100.00
Therefore, it appears that something in the $1200.00 range would be appropriate for you.

We have Polk Audio SR6500's for $1100.00
We'll be getting Digital Designs German engineered components in that will retail in that ballpark.
Realm comps are $900.00
Pioneer Comps are $500.00

high end components- haha get your self a wing that might help,then your car wont be so so slow.

Ralphs Radio, you can get alpine,boston acoustic or clarion components from ~$199-1599. Speakers come with free install too!
