If you're looking for a 'real' MMO, then the next big one is Age of Conan. I was in beta, and it was very good - consider it an adult version of WoW for more experienced gamers.

fuck that everyone should quit wow. Its fine if u play wow casually for fun.. but a lot of the people who play its like their life away from life. They work all day only to come home and neglect their kids and other issues just to work virtually grinding for gear everyone else has.

As for ffxi, I wouldn't bother joining so late unless you have friends playing. I played for 3+ years (quit last year) and it was still a pain to find ppl to quest with (especially if you're all in different time zones).
