A Fasttrack sticker is a Square Holographic Sticker that goes on your School ID card. It basically allows your one zone bus pass to work in all the zones..
the downside is that you're still forking out 74 bucks a month on busses, whereas UBC / SFU get their U-Pass (i think 100 for the semester?)

Haha. The officers aren't dumb... They have one of them that goes into the skytrain when the doors open, and another one preying outside. While you attempt to "gtfo", the officer not in the skytrain would abruptly stop you and ask you for your ticket. In this case, the person that doesn't have the ticket would be gg-ed.

then just pay up, damnit.

It's you guys(not personally directing at just you) that are probably one of the reason why our transit system keeps jacking up the fare price without any sort of improvement in the system.

$173 per offence. One of my former coworkers was using a friend's UPass and was ticketed on both "failure to possess require fare" and "failure to display" resulting in a $250 fine.

Suffice to say that was a decent chunk of that month's salary (part-time work).

They take custody of you until they can get more information about you (you finally confess, etc.)

They can probably fingerprint you to see if you had any previous criminal record on you.. I honestly don't know. And I will not take my chances.

^ they can't. just give them a fake name, they absolutely can't do shit. what they do is that they write down all your info and then call the hq and see if its your first time getting caught or see if you have any other records with the transit police, if they can't find any info on you (or if you used a fake name), they just make a new account for you

you sound like a fucking tool.

btw: i only see adult/business types in the morning who don't have a ticket. and don't fucking tell me that every single one of them just forgot that morning. but at least the folks that i see in violation are actually in violation. not like the ones you see. OH you are dressed like what i presume to be a punk. therefore you must be stealing fare.

Try that, and you will be arrested for obstruction. I am sure the skytrain fare you saved is worth the criminal record, cheap asses.

I have a friend who works in Transit Security. They detain you until you provide some sort of proof that you are who you say you are. And that trick stopped working years ago. I used to use it in High School. They don't buy it anymore. Just pay the $2.50 or whatever it is. It's not worth the effort of trying to get out of it.

It was $175 for me recently (about a year ago). Have a court hearing about it soon.
I was a ubc student back then, but didn't have my U-pass on me. The officer was pretty nice and said I should mail the court with a copy of my U-pass to dispute the fine.

Last time was $75... like 6+ years ago. I didn't pay for a least 5 years. Then a collection service called me, and I still didn't pay. They ended up saying I owed $20 (not sure why), so I just paid the 20.

I guess if you don't get caught for 2 and a 1/2 month's strait, then you'll even out even if you get caught ($175).. haha.

So what happens if someone else gets caught using your upass?

Nothing happens to the original owner right? I mean, I can just say that I lost it and never got a new one because I don't use it anyway.

I know that if someone else uses MY upass THEY get a ticket.

The question was if anything could happen to me as the original owner of the upass. Its unlikely but I wanted to see if anyone knew.
