this is typical of the emerging "nouveau riche" part of china that didn't get there through entrepreneurship or ingenuity (or even bribes), but are rural land owners that became millionaires overnight because their land has been approved for housing/central development. no matter how much money they've got now, they've always been farmers and have no "educated taste".
