Maybe the other phones have features ppl don't care about? |
They do. People want all the features, but how much marketing goes into those phones? Pretty mucg nothing compaired to apples line of products. Not to mention apple is the huge fad right now. Remember when the Motorola RAZR came out? There was so much publicity over it and so many people bought into it not knowing what the phone even had. Everywhere i read i saw people saying they bought the phone thinking it had it all.... only to be suckered in because of its thin design. Personally, I really didn't like that phone. My motorola V710 had everything the razr did, then plus some at a fraction of the cost... Granted it was all of a few cm's thicker, but that really didn't bother me. |
But I haven't seen one iPhone 3G ad at all. It's all been word of mouth. Can you really place the blame on marketing for that? Apple's products don't have all the features and they sell. They mix art and tech into their products that no one else has. It's obviously working. I think it's like this. Some are pure tech ppl, they only want features. But most ppl using technology aren't technogeeks like they were in the past. They're everyday ppl and I think Apple just reflects that. |
ahahah people on giz are funny ... they're all panicking and outraged because it costs them $5 for 200 text messages, which we have to pay $6 for 125 on rogers. If they don't want to pay for the new data charges, may as well get a used first gen iphone and get it over with. I honestly don't see the point of getting the new iphone, if you aren't willing to spend money on the 3g data plans. I mean, for myself wifi is good enough. Most of the time that I use the internet on the phone is when I'm at a mall or restaraunt (and most times there are open connections). I'm not going to be using it while I commute to school. Sure there are phones that may have a better UI, but personally this is already more than what I needed or expected. Hell, having skype and msn (and other chat programs) on the phone is such a bonus. |
i have ppl coming in to the store and asking for holds on Iphones. The only way im holding it for them is, promise to activate a brand new line with us hehehe, |

I am trying to get a brand new 8GB iphone right now... I am guessing their data plan won't be cheap... especially when you have to sign 3 years contract... I'll end up paying A LOT more and have to upgrade the iphone again next year.... |

Do you guys know will apple store sell iphone 3G w/o contract? Can I get the new iphone with its regular price then get a cheaper plan for it at rogers? Is there only one option at this moment (get it for $199 w/ contract)? Or which option is the best deal ($199 w/ contract or regular price w/o contract)? Unless there will be some genius unlocking the new iphone right? |
you can get it for €499/€569 in Europe as avinayyar has mentioned up there its updated on gsmarena. |
that's so expensive though. it defeats the hype. |

It's not black marketing the iPhone3G... Europe has a law witch makes it illegal to be forced to pay for a plan when you buy a phone. If you were to order one from a completely legit dealer of the iPhone and have it shipped here, there is nothing wrong with that. it's completely legal; however, be ready to pay the hefty cost of it. IMO every one is much better off getting the first generation iPhone. Does any one know if we will have visual voicemail? Or is that strictly with AT&T? |

iPhone 3G must be activated in-store Pretty sure Rogers/Fido will be following same terms and conditions here. AT&T Spokesmen answer iPhone 2.0 activation questions: http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/13/i...lowup-questio/ Quote:

people are gonna be pissed... i think it'll be available for renewal and fido dollars |
both Rogers and Fido are getting new iphone in july supposedly and announced that they go for 199 8gb and 299 16gb with 3 year plan, not sure if can be done by renewal, also unlocking is more strict, ppl caught doing the unlocking and getting it unlock will be fined and stuff and I think will affect the iphone selling in canada for rogers, that's all i know of til this point. |
no point of getting one, what are u gonna use 3G for? I'm happy with my iphone 1.1.1. |
i wonder if we can use the plan we alraedy have with fido or we have to start a new contract... |
most likely.. if u currently have a plan with no contract.. you have to add a 3 yr contract with data plan on top if ur a new customer.. sign up on any voice plan.. then add the iphone data plan onto your plan with 3 years contract. most likely that's how it'll work... most people are more concerned with the pricing of what the plans will be right now.. |
