Well, Tyson asked for some progress pictures... motor and clutch will hopefully be here next Wednesday or so and we grabbed a bunch of stuff from Tyson... that first 500km is going to be rough, not being allowed to beat on it with a fresh clutch.

Rust gone, patches ready to be welded in. Not as pretty as I'd like, but they'll work.

A-pillar needs some serious grinding + putty still...

Now if I had a clutch, it'd be running by Monday :(

If only there was someone local who had a clutch for sale for 1/3 what he paid for it...

4doorVIP 06-27-2008 03:46 PM

Well, its 2:40, I need to put a wheel on the car, take it off jackstands, torque down the clutch and drop the motor in... should be buttoning it up by the time the wife gets home at 4!

aspect 07-04-2008 11:17 PM

Took all the brakes off the car today, but headed to vancouver tomorrow. If you need them this weekend send me a PM and I can leave them somewhere accessible around my house.

pyannaco 07-06-2008 09:12 PM

Wow, this thing is really moving along! Give me a call if you need another hand with things.

ostampflee 02-09-2009 06:59 PM

Well, after 8 months, it's finally on the road, still needs a few small things like paint but I need warmer weather for that.

Yay! It made it from Sooke to UVic without issues this morning and still started (last problem was it kept killing batteries while running due to a missing engine->ground cable).

Now for the Subaru kids out there, is the gas gauge always so slow? It takes nearly an hour of running before you get an accurate measurement.

Splinter 02-10-2009 12:30 PM

usually takes about 5 minutes to find its place for all of my subies.

CivicTypeRice 02-10-2009 12:38 PM

Pics of your wife?

pyannaco 02-17-2009 11:03 AM

Nice work, how does it drive?

ostampflee 02-17-2009 02:09 PM

She says it's slow and asked for a turbo.... fucking women, I can't win.

The quarters for the Nova will be here this week, you should come over... lots of cutting to do :)

pyannaco 02-27-2009 08:17 AM

This weekend doesn't work but next weekend shouldn't be a problem. I'll let you know.

And I agree, that thing definitely needs a turbo.

stevo911_ 02-27-2009 10:41 AM

put in the motor to match the bumper? :D

ostampflee 01-18-2010 06:17 AM

Well, pretty much a year later, the paint is done and we're ready to either sell it or get rid of the Ion...

pyannaco 01-18-2010 06:57 AM

Looking good man! How's it running?

NashMan 01-18-2010 12:21 PM

since you never took the glass out I would sell it that rust will come back for sure

ostampflee 01-18-2010 01:17 PM

Glass did come out and considering the rust repairs were done ~18 months ago and they haven't come back, I doubt they will.
