we need the right peices in place to change the system | Well besides Cloutier, I thought Canucks actually faired a better chance at being cup contenders with Crawford. Don't forget who was coaching the WCE. Combination of bad playoff goalie, Bertuzzi getting suspended, Nazzy getting leg injury, Canucks just never went into playoffs fully prepared in those several years when they were at flying during the regular season. That being said, Canucks most likely wouldn't of won the cup those years anyway, but I would think they would of gotten far. AV's system does work to a certain degree, so I can't say his system is flawed. But so far, it doesn't look like it's the better system either. Quote:

But like you said, Canucks don't need the best defense. Canucks already have one of the best goalies in the league (if not the best). Unload some valuable D-men and get some valuable offense... Quote:

^ that's the point. we can't compare systems because AV had to use the one he did because of what he had to work with. he didn't have the benefit of the WCE. he had a second line minus carter that was really his only scoring line, if we could even call it that. i think we had the potential to make it far the year AV got us the best record in franchise history, except we were unfortunate to have been matched up against the powerhouse ducks. then the following season, i know nobody likes to use it as an excuse, but being riddled with injuries really did hold us back. still, i agree that we had the best chance when crawford was here..not necessarily because of the coaching, but because of the team we had.

He'll play somewhere but for probably half of what the Ducks were paying him.

interesting one year for 4 mil.
I wouldn't mind taking it if we can get Naslund to resign for one more year. The Sedins might be gone next summer anyways. Give it one last try. Then we can clean house next season if it doesn't work out.

realistically if we tried to reunite the WCE line, we could run them as our 3rd line, build a first line through FA, and sign a winger the play with the sedins and make a run for it if gillis was crazy enough lol

bert wouldnt come back i dont think..honestly to say...
honestly, if nazzy were to come back...it wouldnt surprise me, it wouldnt be a surprise if he wasnt resigned
heard some stuff today that bert n nazzy were tryin to package something now in the lines of kariya/selanne but half the price, but i highly doubt that is true...
we see how htings are..Gillis has a different relationship with players in general because he was an agent b4, he might be able to bring in some good guys..but ughh..don think so...
nazzy showing dimetra around to me is just a friend to friend thing..why cant ppl think about that.
Bertuzzi fits in a run n gun in ur face style of hockey the canucks havent seen since he punched out wuzzy moore.
regardless..just wait n see...but berts value has decreased, but there are teams that can use his services well. Man..if he goes to the flames, then it be interesting

Damn... WCE was an awesome line but remember how it wasn't working near the end before it got broken up?
A WCE revival wouldn't be the same anymore.
-Lack of chemistry (after being apart so many years)
-Players are several years older, aren't as fast anymore.
-Different coach, WCE wouldn't fit with AV's system.
This idea is ridiculous.

Watch the WCE are all gonne be free agents and all of them are gonna land on the same team. That would be crazy. Im hoping its Vancouver.
And whoever said that they werent good anymore in their last season together.
Naslund 32G 47A 79P
Bertuzzi 25G 46A 71P
Morrison 19G 37A 56P
Im not saying there gonna be hitting those #'s again, but they'll most likely always have there chemistry. They all can still play the game, the only thing hindering them is more than likely AV's coaching style

aznnightmare said they weren't. thing is, bert constantly got those stupid penalties in front of the net. the exact push-off move he patented the year b4 and never got bothered for it. yet that year, kept getting called for it. i honestly think that the league had something to do with that. then teams knew what to do..hockeys equivalant of "shaq-a-hack" they started to get read, at the same time, top defense pairs were not facing the twins/carter, and they flourished. not knowing how to stop the 2nd line, twins/carter seemed unstoppable and crawford went with what worked. bert got pissed cause first line out for the PP was them and not the WCE. which started the team being split up, and well, we know what happened after that. WCE part II would work again. they have size, power, skill
