1. Definitely apply for bursaries. Focus on your last semester of Gr12 and get into the program that you desire. Worst comes to worst you can always apply for the Spring 2013 session so you have that extra couple of months to build up your savings. Go to the career center/high-school counselor on getting help with getting the loans/bursaries that you need. Do not underestimate the cost of textbooks.

I was very active in the community and did a lot of volunteering work when I was in HS. That got me quite a few bursaries.

2. Don't have to respond to this if you don't want, but your mom should look into getting a consolidated debt repayment program. It will lower your monthly obligations a bit to ease the short-term stress of money management. That's all I can say given the very few details about the situation.

Best of luck, and nobody IMHO should be priced out of a solid post-secondary education.
