If they're midterms, no.

If they're finals, yes.

yes that will let you get one postponed

but note that most profs dont like changing the dates and making a new exam for you / they may make it harder

/ 1 Strong position, claim or thesis statement
/ 2 Evidence (minimum 1 direct quote) and explanation of theoretical
understanding from Nodelman and Reimer
/ 2 Evidence (minimum of 2 direct quotes) and discussion from required text
/ 1 Quality of writing (style, grammar, APA format, length)
/ 6 TOTAL

my TM was pretty lenient when marking. just make sure u get in the required amount of quotes. its hard and u might have to paraphrase the shit out of it to make the 250 word count but they are essential. i believe i lost 1 mark in 1 question when i left out a quote and ended up with 29/30 on the mt :suspicious:

Did you guys take 465 with Bhuvinder Vaid?

Econ 302 midterm average @ 35%, getting 50% on the midterm would have netted you an A for that exam.... WTF...

GrapeDrink 11-09-2011 05:06 PM

ranting ...... but my earth sci prof is a biggity bitch, the class avg is like in the low 50's and she said she won't scale or curve it because the mid terms were really easy .. like come on a 300 person class avg is 50% but it was easy? :fuuuuu:

ding ding ding, I'm not sure if you are agreeing or disagreeing with me but either way is cool. After having some time between seeing my shitty mark I guess to be fair her midterms are not really HARD I think I'm more mad at the fact that our midterm is like 24 MC right? and we have 4 chapters of materials + her lecture slides to draw material from and a lot of her questions imo are like just small minor details. I recall one of the questions on the last mid asking about like how many people were killed in _______ landslide or was it which landslide killed ___ of people and I'm just like :seriously: we have like over 100 pages of reading and slides and that was something she felt like people needed to know ? sigh I only took this class for the b-sci credit and because my friend told me last semester(different prof) the class average was in the high 70's so I'm pretty choked.

I've focused more on his lectures and less on the book, basically been mastering the IS-LM curve, he also got into the AS-AD model, I think he's going to ask questions on both. Basically IS-LM and AS-AD shift together.

Anyone going to be at SFU tomorrow and Sunday? Spending my weekend there :alone:

I honestly dont think he will test us on the terminology, more emphasis on curve shifts. How much of the book did you read for this first exam?

Okami 11-11-2011 05:51 PM

I don't think her tests are hard, but I don't think their super easy either. I did OK, but did everything I could (kept up with readings, on time for class, visited office hrs). I talked to her about shifting more weight to the 2nd midterm and final as well and I think she won't scale the test because she doesn't think we deserve it. There are too many people using cellphones in class and nobody is visiting her during office hours if they have trouble.

I'm just annoyed that the 2nd midterm wasn't fairly handed out. Some people had like 8-10 minutes advantage before the TA could even give me a test, yet we were all supposed to hand it in on time. The question was which landslide killed 70 people. I am confident it was the Frank slide because people actually died in that one. I'm taking this for b-sci credit as well. The guy I bought the book off told me the tests were easy as hell, maybe for him.

I think the person you bought your text book from though probably had the prof my friend had last semester who told me the average was in the high 70's so yeah ... yeah the handling of the midterm was pretty pathetic, I mean in the end for me anyways since I didn't run out of time but its still obviously unfair to everyone else. The Ta's should have waited until everyone had one and then started timing from there, or put the exams out on the seats before hand, that's how my math exams were like. Their method of handing out the exams was so slow, I was near the front and I wasn't getting my exam anytime soon until they finally said fuck it.

Honestly I got pretty disappointed when he mention that the AD/As curve was derive from the IS LM curve. Spent some time trying to understand the IS LM curve and he mentions its exactly like the AD AS :yuno:

I didnt really study for the first midterm lol. I read chapter 4? and read the review page + and looked at the graphs from chap 1-3. Understood it because it was from econ 105. Did well on the written, but I lost most of my marks from true and false. (guessed like half :p)

Sid Vicious 11-12-2011 10:17 AM
