1) A offered to sell house to B and said to accept by mail by Sept 25
2) B dropped letter in mail (Sept 24th); got delayed (received Sept 27th)
3) A offered to sell the house to C
4) C accepted Sept 26th and the two parties signed a written purchase agreement the morning of the 27th.

I understand that B had accepted the offer on the 26th and a binding contract was formed when he dropped it into the mailbox, but is there a contract between A and C? I'm thinking no, and that the contract between A and B takes precedent, but why? BUS 393 btw

I don't take this class, but from an average guy's logic, wouldn't the contract be between A and C? A and B exchanged a verbal agreement that B had to accept by the 25th, and even though he received the letter on a later date, the fact still remains that the agreement was to accepted by the 25th. I would assume the written agreement overrides the verbal as well.

So0o0o0o fucked for my math midterm tomorrow :fuuuuu:

Anyways, a quick question to those experienced related to grades...

What are the effects of having a low GPA in university in the future (ie. enrollment date priorities, etc)?

GPA has a little effect but credits have way more.

Unless your GPA is pushing past 3.75, it doesn't affect it all that much.

49/60 first uni midterm for psyc100
Did so much better than class average but looking at that percentage makes me feel like shit :okay:
Fuck me gotta study harder...

Does anyone know to apply for law school if it's the total amount of 120 credits (for a BA) that get counted for GPA or is it the last 60 credits that get counted for GPA?

yray 10-03-2012 09:50 AM

^ don't think about law school till mid/end year 2, just enjoy school

Pretty sure it's your cumulative GPA. LSAT is also a huge factor. At UBC law school I'm pretty sure they look at 50% GPA and 50% LSAT.

So as long as I pass my courses, I'll be okay?

On a side note, math midterm wasn't as bad as I expected :fullofwin:

@ ubc it is 50 undegrad 50 LSAT

IIRC it really depends on the school you're applying to. UBC law drops your worst 12 credits whereas other schools only count 90, etc. etc.

There's lots of new law universities opening up in canada, so don't feel too down unless you're trying to get into a super competitive one

Fuck do they show the first floor of the library to everyone during orientation now? And apparently the 7th floor maps room as well? First years everywhere, like locusts consuming desks and chairs.

Enrollment (to the best of my knowledge at SFU, at least) is based on how many credits AND GPA, so it will help out when getting into those low capacity upper level courses. It'll also make getting into graduate schools easier as there is usually a GPA requirement and if it's good it can be used to balance out requirements that one may not have, like work experience. Also good, braggable material on resumes for jobs or co-op.

Also, if you have a higher GPA, you'll be getting better marks so you'll have an overall better understanding of everything you're learning :D

You're in first year and already worrying about law school?

For UBC law they drop 12 of your worst credits as mentioned and weigh your LSAT and GPA 50/50.

Enjoy your undergrad while you can but try to keep your GPA up. You don't want to go to the new, mediocre, last resort schools like TRU or that other school that's opening in 2015 at Lakehead. I've never even heard of those schools before entering law school.

Fcukedd 10-03-2012 10:52 PM

Anyone have experience with Jeff Sonier, the physics prof? All he does is go over prelectures he tells us to watch before class, so you aren't really learning shit.

I have a midterm on Friday, and was wondering how his tests are like.

Sky_High 10-03-2012 11:15 PM
