Anyone install the official .190 on their Bold yet? I just recently installed it on mine, and it seems like my youtube doesn't work at all anymore. I'm not sure if the new OS changed the service books or renamed the items that originally stop youtube from working...

Anyone else have the same problem?

EDIT:

In Advanced Options>TCP: Just had to add "internet.com" for the APN... And it works just fine! The service books that you had to delete originally don't appear anymore after rebooting. Which is great! I'm guessing the TCP went back to default after loading the new OS.

^ Hmm the service books still appear. tamazoid, maybe you just missed it?

BTW, you guys have to get the programs, makes the BB experience a lot better...

VibeAndRing, AutostandBy, Viigo, Poynt, RingZ, SaveNumberAs

I think it makes the phone pretty much perfect now.

(I figured out my data/wifi problem I posted earlier in case anybody's interested: I had turned off Data Services on the "Mobile Network Options" menu thinking it just blocks data, but it blocks wifi too. So turning it back on and keeping the phone set on 2G, I've been able to wifi to my content without (thus far) accessing rogers data)

New problem:

I transferred from the Wall-E 3rd disc, a digital copy of the movie in wmv format, into my BB Bold, but doesn't play. Anybody know how to get it to go?

Oh really? Hmm... It doesn't come back for me. Unless it got renamed to something else. But for me, I can watch youtube videos right after I reboot without changing or deleting anything. Can you watch youtube right after you reboot the Bold? Or do you still have to delete the service books first?

Actually I did run into an error when I was doing the upgrade... I had some kind of loading error which cause my Bold to not be recognized by my computer. I had to wipe my Bold clean with JL_CMDER and manually load the whole OS... Luckily I back up my Bold regularly! But yah, that's the only difference that I did with mine.

Also, where did you get those applications? Did you have to pay for them?

^ Hmm, the thing is that you can still watch youtube for only 40 seconds even if you didn't delete the service books... Can you watch it for over a minute with a restart and without deleting?

Yah, I can watch for over a minute cause I don't have those service book to delete. I can restart all I want, and it still doesn't show up. Which is nice for me...

I'm planning on leaving Fido and switching to Rogers soon just to get the Bold or 8900 Curve .. Whats the major difference between the 8900 curve and the Bold?

All I can think of is.. Curve = Smaller, Lighter, 3.15 MP Camera and no 3G.

Question about this promotion plan for Rogers: https://www.rogers.com/web/content/w...ans/45dataplan

For the "Smartphone Data Plan (Any Smartphone device)" Can the plan be used with Blackberrys? Dumb question.. but I'm not sure because theres a plan JUST for Blackberrys.. not just any smart phones. TIA

edit: nevermind. I just asked my friend and he said the plan can be used with BB.

What prices are people getting their BB Bold for these days? I'm hunting for one as my 7290 keeled over on me after many years of faithful service.

I went around to the Rogers Wireless store in Metro, and the best they could do was give me $199 with no activation fee. I'm on a corporate plan with work on Rogers and they said I qualified for the "maximum discount". I see others on here getting them for $50 with a new activation - how does Rogers manage to give a handset to a new client for $50, but charges a multi year client who has never bought a subsidized phone off them $200 for the same thing?

Some have had luck getting the Bold for 99 when applying for a data plan. Apparently only certain Rogers customers are flagged to get this deal.

hmm...strange. Well, our corporate plan should already have data since it's an existing Blackberry. Any particular stores you guys frequent that give slightly better deals?

If you aren't currently on a contract with Rogers (expired) then you can get it for $49. Just have to call retentions. You get the extra $50 off with the hardware upgrade rebate when you sign a 2+ year contract greater than $20 a month.

eh, I just think it sucks that they'll give this kind of discount to a brand new customer or someone threatening to leave, but not to a loyal customer who's been with them for years...well, I'm going to try again when I get back from my trip...see if I can pull of a Bold for $50 or $100...

^^ make sure you protect the screen. I know someone who scratched it up within a few weeks of owning it.
