You're in an asian dominated forum. I'm sure majority cannot relate to your sentiments. Hell, I'm surprised even westernized asians still follow the traditional rule of staying with your parents well into your 20's, until you either (a) get married or (b) in a long term relationship with someone anyways.

I find it funny when I see these kind of people in their high horses brag about how much they make and their standard of living driving all these fancy cars, while still living at home at mommy & daddy.

what?... everyone on salary is still paid so much an hour. you just divide the total by how many hours you work.

it's sad to think that the avg wave in canada woudln't buy you a 400 sq foot apeartment in vancouver. you'd need double the avg wage. this is why vancouver is f*cked in the future, and everyone will be leaving for other citys.

A person should be able to buy a full house on the avg salary. So either housing or salarys have to move a lot in the near future.

30 years ago one person working an avg wage could buy one.

Word, there are times where I wish I was hourly. We've been doing night work here and there and when we do I totally get shafted. It sucks working 7am-3:30pm and then 6pm-2am and not get paid an extra nickle. The only good thing is it doesn't happen that often.

i personally like working hourly... i work my 8 hrs per day, no work to take home, and if i have to stay longer, I get overtime... I don't see what's really wrong with that... I get paid for my time, rather than having to slave over projects and work O/T to finish stuff that is supposedly included in my "salary"...

although i guess it doesn't really matter... as long as we're making money that's all that matters

if you don't have student loans, credit card debts, car loans, or line of credit debts to pay off, then yeah I actually think one can live comfortably on his/her own making 45k a year.

it's all about money management skills and your life style, people.

This is actually the trend that's developing in North America even amongst Caucasians. My former manager would constantly tell me how his son lived with him until he was in his 30s simply because when he left he had enough to buy a house. That and his son did his MBA.

So true... basically people with that income can't afford to live in the City of Vancouver...

Selling porn is so much better than working 9-5.

Although lately I've been working my mouse arm and wank arms both to the bone(haha) as I was ripped off big time and have had to make up for it.

How can anyone live in Vancouver on $22/hour?

you could live month to month on that. but not the rest of your life. how are you going to pay rent between the ages and 60 and 90? you need to buy and have payed off a place to live before you retire. and you're not going to buy a place around here making 45k.

many years ago, but the point's still the same. you make sacrifices to get what you want, or you can whine about how you have to "settle" for middle class canada.

agreed 100%

you have to figure out what's important to you, and make sacrifices.

You're totally right about the housing part. Hopefully, it fixes itself down the road.
