fido finally got some newer phones, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Moto Razr, anyone tried renewing their contracts and getting these two phones yet?

I wonder if Fido makes you get data with these 2 phones..

bing 01-16-2012 06:14 PM

3 yr contract for ip4s

$58/month
200 + 50 bonus minutes
Unlimited incoming
Unlimited E/W starting @ 5pm
Unlimited International Text
VM, Caller ID ($3 - $4 credit)
6gb data ($30)

$25 HUP fee waived

called in twice. really wanted to pay $55 for this plan but meh just $3 more a month.

hongy 01-18-2012 11:44 AM

Called in today asking to add data onto my plan, then I asked to be transfered to retention and was told they don't and have never done transfer through your call centre. Wtf is going on with fido? Also I'm not allowed getting a new phone when I've never purchased one of their phones before.

Edit: so they told me they no longer do any plans under 50$ a month for smart phones.

Peanut Butter Jelly Time! 01-19-2012 08:04 PM

they also told me no longer offering smartphones for plans under $50.00

here's what they offered me for a 3yr contract for

50+taxes = 56

150 anytime mins
unlimited evenings and weekends starting at 5pm
VM
CID
Whocalled
500mb
unlimited video & picture messaging

if i wanted to get a new phone ( i asked about the samsung galaxy nexus) they said they'd waive the $25 HUP fee, the phone is still $100.00 + taxes but they can apply my fido dollars towards it.

What do you guys think?

EX-R 01-19-2012 08:29 PM

No idea, but if you haggle hard enough and get a good rep, they'll give it to you.

They offered that to me, however no discounts will be given if you get 6 gb.

Need advice, i called fido today and basically told them that i want to switch to bell because they have better plans. So she offered me a plan that consists of

5pm to 7am weeknights
free weekends
200 anytime minutes
unlimited incoming calls
voicemail, call display
500 mb

for $55+ taxes and i can get an iphone 4s 16gb for $40 with my fido dollars

i am currently paying $60 with tax a month for a($35)city fido plan, ($10) voicemail and call display.

is this worth it or should i wait for a couple of months for new phones to come out? i already have an iphone 4 32gb and im fine with it for the moment.

thoughts?

Vansterdam 01-24-2012 04:00 PM

depending on what you use your phone for

500mb is very little

i suggest try and get 1-6gb

lol really is no point in updating from iphone 4 to a 4s

unless you want a better camera and SIRI

thats about it.. too much hassle otherwise

i would hold of for a newer iphone if i could

DC2aDDicT 01-24-2012 04:34 PM

Thanks for the fast reply yeah i'll wait til "iphone 5" comes out lol

That's pretty pricey. If u can get 6gb for the same price then that would b better.

Just got off with Fido now to change my plan.

I quoted a Telus Corporate plan from UBC as something I was considering switching to. It didn't really help much other than getting me through to retentions, though.

My initial plan was the $25 retention plan:
200 min daytime
1000 min E/W from 7pm
CID
+$10 unlimited text
+$10 flex data

Now it seems like I just got their standard $25 plan off the Fido website with CID thrown in for free.

150 min daytime
Unlimited E/W from 5pm
Unlimited text messages in Canada
CID ($7 waived)
$30 6GB

Total: $55 +tax = $61.60

iris1112 02-09-2012 11:53 AM

May I know if there's any number that we can call the retention plan department directly?

Lol this plan is already at a good price. At Rogers they're offering $63 plans (before tax) with just 1GB of data and no CID.

6GB plans retention plans are usually 55/57. If you were to only get 500MB then that might be 42-47.

There is no way to directly call retention anymore. Also if you ask for retention they sometimes say they don't have one.

I had this plan 3 years ago for $47. You'd think they'd give better retention plans by now. I'm so glad I've left Fido.
