Looks like the EPP plan and they threw in the text msging for free. So about $10/20?(2500/10000msgs on website) in free credits for them to keep you. I think the rule of thumb is that they can't give you freebie credits exceeding your voice plan dollar value. So your deal is pretty good considering 17.50 is your initial value.

My retention plan that I negotiated 2007 xmas time:

200 daytime
1000 E/W
Unl. Incoming
Unl. network calling F/R
Free CID

$25

plus the SAF+911 charge+tax = ~$36
3 year renewal

Came from a shitty 50 daytime, 1000 E/W I think, 1000 F2F minutes for $20.

I kinda want some free texts now, and btw I negotiated this when my 2 year contract ended in Fall 2007.

I think it's easier to negotiate end of year or periods of when their quota or customer contracts are running out soon and want to lock people up fast. Took me 3-4 calls, first call was super unsuccessful and rude CSR, and rest was more lenient and nice and you need to have manners and mostly luck of the draw on the person on the other end.

I read a lot of these deals and stuff, like on RFD, and some people get even sweeter freebies and all that.

They have certain restrictions with iPhones but that should be gone once the $30/6GB plan is also gone.

Ur not gonna pull much weight if you threaten to jump ship to Rogers.

wix 09-13-2008 10:52 PM

Do they give you these plans if you get an iPhone?

Well I don't think that made a difference from my experience...overall same company but seems like these guys didn't want to let me ago.

Anyways called them again yesterday and they sent me a free Samsung slider phone - not high end but at least something for backup :D

aznrsx1979 09-16-2008 08:37 PM

Forgot, I also got a $150 credit to my account cause I didn't want a new phone.

Vansterdam 09-18-2008 11:29 PM

lol so shitty i took the 17.50 plan + added the extra features + 125 text my bill comes to about 40$ after taxes

200 daytime billing by second
unlimited even and weekends after 5pm
callier id
125
voice mail
who called

first month free

dam feel like my deal wasent that great.

Wingman 09-19-2008 11:26 AM

I still have CityFido,
I've tried several times and they just all give me the same answer.. they're not making anything on my plan so they all refused to give me free anything.. (txts, caller id etc)

I'm paying $40-45 with no SAF
have the value pack for $20
(2500 txt, caller id, voicemail, etc)

So about $65 + taxes

BSOD 09-19-2008 02:57 PM

my gf is paying $25 with no SAF after they gave her $15 in credits on her city fido line. :D

she did have two lines on her account when she negotiated though so that probably helped her a bit.

jeff19 09-19-2008 04:59 PM

just got from fido retention:

unlim. incoming
unlim E/W after 5
2500 txts
200 anytime minutes
caller id
+ a free moto rzr :)
for $25

willystyle 09-19-2008 05:17 PM

jesus christ, makes my retention plan look like shit.. :(

Peanut Butter Jelly Time! 09-21-2008 08:46 PM

what do you guys even say to them? and what if their offer is no good or if they say 'fine you are welcome to cancel with us.' i haven't been on a contract for maybe 2ish years now, but i'm paying 50 a month for Fido to Fido call n text plus voicemail, 125 txts, caller id and that basic bundle + SAF and that stuff and well it's starting to hurt. any input would help. thanks.
