| Tanpopo on Denmann any good?
I'm thinking of trying this place again. I went there many years ago but didnt have a great experience. The only reason I'm considering is cuz it's closer to Scotia Bank Theater than any other AYCE. Have u guys tried them lately?
Or I can always go to BC Sushi.

They were horrible when I last went a few years ago. No AYCE is worth going to.

They're not bad for AYCE Dinner, but the last time I went was a few years ago.

I've gone a bunch of times and it's great. They don't limit sashimi so I sit down order 100 tuna and I'm good to go

This place is still around? I think this might have been one of the first Japanese AYCE places in Vancouver?
It was the earliest one I remember going to... and this was like 12 years ago... wow... back in 1996 or so.

hmmm, maybe i should go pay a visit & do a review. Dinerhere.ca gives them a 3.5/5. But those r mostly white guys & they give high marks as long as service is good & portion is big.

I was ok afterwards. I think it wasnt bad at all. I especially love the scallop & hamachi sushi. I went there with a new friend so I wasnt able to "act freely". Parking was a real bitch tho, kinda impossible at dinner time.

My GF and I go there quite a bit and I have never had any trouble with the food. The only thing I would suggest is order ALOT at the start cuz after a while they start taking forever to serve you. Its their way of saying... you eat to much man.
I eata lika whale!!
Berz out.

I go there quite often, just because they don't limit the sashimi and YES the scallops bacon shit is off the hook. bacon scallops and the prawn gyoza are pretty good.
@ q019 who was your server? Your experience really varies depending on which server you get imo, some there are great but some are ridiculously bad at their job lol.

He was on top of things too. He kept on filling up my tea and ask if I need some more food. He wasn't cheery or anything but at least he was doing his job & I like that.

Went to Tanpopo for the first time last night for the AYCE late night.
Toro/Wild Salmon sashimi...and there's no limit?!
That alone is worth it to come here instead of the other [even shittier] AYCE places.
sidenote: I haven't done AYCE sushi in a while, probably half a year or more.
Review...
If you dislike the limits other places will put on sashimi, then come here. I don't think anyone else does Toro anyways.. I think the regular Tuna sashimi was also quite fatty too.
Pretty much all I had for the night. I started out with 100 orders of each and just kept going. Trust me that 100 isnt a lot, just look at the size of the slices. :P

seems like decent quality stuff. unfortunately, i wouldn't be able to bring myself to eat ayce in downtown when there is a plethora of great restaurants there i would much rather spend my money on. and maybe the fact i live in richmond where you can get ayce pretty much anywhere.

IF you know sushi or atleast jap eating habits. they pay more in japan for sushi that has more fat, and honestly its better, more fat means its easier to eat, more flavour, in japan, tuna has different colors, the whiter , more fat.. and more expensive. i prefer fatty tuna and salmon, as oppose to less fat, where u feel ur eating salmon steak. and its chewy.
most of my jap friends like sushi here cause vanc. sushi is fatty and still cheap..
actually better yet, try tuna thats darker in color and white tuna (more fat) side by side, and ull know what i mean. same goes for salmon.
