anyone here had their wisdom tooth taken out with local anesthetic only? without oral sedation or putting u to sleep? I'm gonna take only one btw, is it gonna be too painful?

Adsdeman 10-20-2008 08:48 AM

I had all four and was under local anasthetic not that bad dont be a pussy!!

syee 10-20-2008 10:02 AM

Same here. I had one taken out when I was knocked out and one with just a local.

It'll look like he's trying to pull your teeth out with pliers (which they might possibly be doing - I couldn't actually see what the dentist was doing, but it sure felt like it by watching what he was doing) :D

I had all 4 done. Got KO'd for the procedure. I highly recommend it.

Later, I had to get some gum chopped, and some broken teeth ground down. I was awake for that procedure, and one of the feelings I'll never forget is the vibration of the drill, on my tooth, reverberating through my skull, and the "click" sound from the scalpel meeting bone, after slicing through flesh. Maybe my surgeon was just a sadist, but she was hacking away like Jason Voorhees.

i got mine done back a couple years, i was awake the whole time but my mouth was numb. so numb i drooled without knowing haha. the doc took all 4 out at the same time and my face was swollen like a chipmunk, and yogurt was my bestfriend for the next 3 days because that was the only thing i could eat.

Djiban 10-22-2008 01:26 AM

Fudge im getting owned by the pain...apparently 2 tylenols dont help. The surgery itself was nothing...i miss meat already

okenne 10-22-2008 01:34 AM

I had the two top wisdoms taken out without being knocked out.

One of them didn't hurt at all, probably cause it was already sticking out of the gum. But for the the other tooth that was still under the gum hurt while it was being extracted. It wasn't unbearable though, maybe 3 pinches of pain and it was done. If you're scared about the pain, just make sure the dentist numbs you up good. I was able to eat normal food a day after ^_^

i had all four taken out at once, as well as another four to make room for my braces.

i remember it hurting like a biatch, the taxi ride home...and then not much after that haha. i think i was fucked up for a week on t3 haha.

i wasn't knocked out for the procedure either.

i had 4 done in 3 sessions.. 2 bottoms were so sideways and near nerves, so they were done seperately by specialists. top 2 came out no prob. i never had any sedation for any of my procedures. the pain afterwards wasnt bad.. just pop 1 advil 1 tylenol combined.. they work great together for oral pain. i had T3s but never touched them. the actual procedure for taking out the bottom 2 was horrible! they cranked at those mofos like there was no tomorrow. she practically had her foot on my jaw and the wrench on my tooth and used all her strength it was ridic

its not bad, I had one done in prince george and 3 done in the office in Vancouver. The reasons for the removal is worse than the removal itself. Local freezing will be fine. Make sure you have some Ibuprofen after.

Girl 10-27-2008 10:43 AM

I got all mine taken out like that. 2 imbedded. 2 just plucked right on out. It's the sound that's gross. You can't feel pain but you feel the pressure of the tools, or when they cut into ur gums....ya not fun. But no pressure! :D

Razor Ramon HG 10-28-2008 09:23 PM

I got my bottom two taken out with local anesthetic. Took like less than 10 minutes. They froze it up and went to work. You feel pressure, but it's not that bad. They sew up the hole afterwards and you go home. The stitches should dissolve by themselves.

Just got 2 pull out. Is been 4 hours and is still bleeding O_O but I think that's normal. The worse part is I can't eat ><

ShadowBun 09-14-2010 08:42 PM

All you feel is the pressure they use to pull our ur tooth.

Man it up.
Its not bad.

i was awake when they did mine, all u hear is crackling and drilling noises..but it wasn't bad at all..except one of my stitches came off few days later..

Okami 09-15-2010 01:00 AM

i was also awake with just numbing agent.. i dont mind the pain.. its just the smell of powdered teeth that is annoying.. i took all 4 at once.. after the procedure i think i took 2 tylenol #3 throughout the week because i wanted to go to sleep. during the day instant mashed potatoes and ensure was my best bud XD one week of knowing what its like to be a senior

twitchyzero 09-15-2010 07:52 AM

Mr.HappySilp 09-15-2010 08:19 AM

I was woken up by the pain last night >< Had to go take some regular tyneol now is better but I still can't eat solid foods. Seems like when i try to chew something it gets really painful. But at least my cheeks isn't sowllen or anything.

Fafine 09-15-2010 08:22 AM

did you pull both on one side?

yogurt is your best friend

Vinny G 09-15-2010 08:35 AM

lol, I didn't feel any pain when I took mine out. I got put to sleep but I didn't have to use any of the tylenols they gave me afterward.

TheNewGirl 09-15-2010 09:25 AM

I had all 4 taken out with local only and mine were severly impacted. The dentist gave me some valium about an hour before the surgery. I didn't care even when I could feel it.

Also cause I wasn't put under the recovery was much quicker. I only took one of my T3s and was just taking advil for the swelling after.

JLC 09-15-2010 04:44 PM

I had as good an experience as one can have with wisdom tooth extraction.
Luckily for me, all 4 of mine were/are fully out so its a simple procedue. No cutting, no digging, no drilling no nothing.

All my dentist did was take some tools, apply some pressure to the tooth in a few diff directions, then yank. SHe did this wih me fully awake.

The best thing she did for me was suggest I do one side at a time instead of all 4 at once...so I agreed. She took out the two on the left side without any pain whatsoever and it took all of 10 minutes. I'm glad I did just one side first because that same night I was eating normal food. Doing one side only allowed me to chew on normal food on the other side. I didnt have any swelling or anything at all, no pain, no nothing...business as usual once the numbness went down a few hours later. Hell I was eating chips that same night. Just make sure you clean your mouth thoroughly after each time you eat and you'll be fine.

Just so happens I'm going in tomorrow to get the other two removed...lets hope it goes as smooth as last time.
