Agreed. Especially annoying when suddenly you find 2 smokers dragging you/your teammates out and you find the tank running at you 
So far I've only got two bronzes  lighthouse and no mercy outside stage

I just gun down the tank.
It's way easier to die than in Campaign and Versus mode.
Unfortunately, people still run from the tank. But then again, Survival mode just came out yesterday.

we stop throwing molotov on the tank
just all 4 shoot at him at the same time, he will die in like 10 seconds
after 14 min mark, the tank just doesnt come anymore.... but non stop horde and hunters just keep coming.

There is really no point to throwing a mollie @ a tank in survival. The tanks can be easily taken down if everyone just unloads on him (4 auto shottie is best).
Best save the mollies and pipes for the hordes.
As for Death Toll - The boathouse (finale), they fixed both rocks. One you cant get on anymore and the other tanks and zombies can easily get on now .

L4D got another update I believe.
RennSport: Today's update fixed the bug where the tank doesn't show after 15mins.
Also like how the leaderboard shows personal best time and not team time. yay.
Cool, here are the update changes:
Survival Mode Changes
~Darkened the Lighthouse background movie and increased the contrast with the user interface elements
~Chapter selection is now available when creating a Survival lobby
~Single player coop now works correctly after playing Survival online
~The correct game mode will be set when playing back a demo
~Changed holdout server spew to be development only
~Stats are no longer updated while viewing a demo
~Correctly update the leaderboard based on the player's personal time, not the team best time
~Show the player's best time in the scoreboard
~Removed Survival exploits from The Terminal, Last Stand, The Crane, The Boathouse and The Warehouse
~Fixed tanks sometimes not spawning after 15-20 minutes
I guess there were more exploits than I imagined.

It's hard all to find 4 random players that are actually good. Usually you can get another person but the rest are noobs, doing more harm to the team than good. The game is pretty much over if one person is incap. You either get incap as well trying to save them or die once the tank comes.

A lot of times, I can only round up 2 other friends, so we have to open a public spot. Randoms are usually 50/50. It doesn't matter if they're new, the ones that are good are the ones that listen to instructions and tips. In almost all cases, a human will always be better than a useless bot. Bots are incredibly retarded in Survival.

The next patch will probably include a 'fix' for the crane level. There's a second ledge on the building corner, next to the crane. From the main ledge, just keep inching off the edge, you'll drop down about 6 inches. Smokers can't reach survivors from there. The tank gets bugged and can't reach that area, and hunters can be tagged from long rang with the sniper rifle. It's pretty boring, but the gold achievement can be easily attained. We just went out guns blazing after 10 min, and got mobbed by 4 smokers, 3 hunters and a tank, at the same time.
