No summer classes - graduating :)

teaoh 03-09-2011 09:43 PM

Thinking about taking Auditing 3444 with Brad Sacho and Taxation 3335 with Jane Chong. Been looking at their comments on ratemyprof and it seems like a mix between good and bad reviews. Has anyone taken courses from them before?

guddagudd 03-09-2011 09:47 PM

lol, my bad ruthless, didn't mean to exclude you rofl. But yeah, I was looking mainly for people that goes to the richmond campus, and preferably are in their first to second year :)

MindBomber 03-09-2011 10:16 PM

3444 - Sacho -- be prepared to get raped by the workload. assignments every week. all assignments goes towards 70% of your mark. ALWAYS take the "QUIZZES" seriously. You never know when he's going to grade them. Sammie's widgets is a bitch! Find a partner - work together - but think on your own. I ended up with an A-

3335 - Chong -- when did you take Tax 1 ? If it was more than 2 semesters ago - you will fail the class or do really bad! If you took tax 1 with a diff instructor you will fail or do really bad. She expects you to know tax 1 material like you completed it 1 week ago. She is all hand written, no computer. MT's are hard. Class avg last summer was in the 60's. People who did well got 95%. Read byrd and chen text - although buckwold is "required" it will not help you - and she does not like buckwold text. You can use old byrd chen text ( msg me if you want to buy books :) ). I ended up with a C-.

teaoh 03-10-2011 04:58 PM

Since I'm taking the last 2 courses for my accounting diploma this summer, I'm guessing Auditing with Sacho wouldn't be too bad. But Taxation with Chong is what worries me.
Is there a different tax course that I have missed? Under the course description 3335 Tax seems to be Tax 1.

ruthless 03-11-2011 09:04 PM

anyone know what the outcome was with the upass/multipass vote that kwantlen had?

tiger_handheld 03-11-2011 09:12 PM

^ per the posters Kwantlen said YES! 75% iirc

ruthless 03-11-2011 09:52 PM

FUCK! NNNNNOOOOOO

MindBomber 03-11-2011 09:55 PM

The only thing that doesn't suck about the multi-pass is the possible inter-campus shuttle and possible free parking at Langley

This thread should cover all campuses.

ruthless 03-11-2011 10:09 PM

Yea someone change title...

fuck the upass (personally has no value for me, at all)
Don't take transit, skytrain, all classes at surrey campus=intercampus shuttle useless, no Golds gym in surrey=useless(wtf is this BS, surreys the main campus, there is a Golds in Richmond however) ssooo $160/sem added on to my $125 a semester parking pass :speechless:

guddagudd 03-11-2011 10:49 PM

rofl, u-pass will be so helpful for me, ruthless you should consider switching to richmond campus

MindBomber 03-11-2011 10:52 PM

Surrey is definitely the main campus, unless your in first year or a horticulture stoner then there aren't any classes at Langley campus to even utilize a shuttle..

I think the opt out is restricted to people taking less than 6 hours of classes a semester or something like that.

ruthless 03-12-2011 10:19 AM

exactly its fuckin bs and lol gudda go aaalllll the way to richmond...
Yea langley campus is a joke...
You can also opt out if you get a discount from work, or theres no translink service in your area, i (ive like 10 mins from the surrey campus
