Man punched while singing Christmas carols
 
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Imagine getting attacked for spreading a little Christmas cheer. Vancouver police say a 24-year old man was punched in the face for carolling downtown Sunday night.

They are investigating the case as a possible hate crime. The victim and a friend burst into song as they walked past a Christmas light display. That's when another group of men shouted their objections, yelled a gay slur and then hit him.

21-year old Christopher Mercier was arrested and charged with one count of assault.

On a serious note: What the hell, so because they had some christmas spirit in them while they walked past a christmas display, another GROUP yells at them and even called them gay? What a bunch of douchebags. I think as punishment, the group should be stuck in a room that is playing christmas carols. Not just that, the christmas carols will be sang by children. Do this for 1 week.

I totally agree. I remember when the news was about taxes, the cambie line construction or something else mundane.

Now it seems to be saturated with stories of stabbings, blazing gun-fights or pig farms.
