The thugs in London are crazy - and they're all kids. In bad areas its scary to see a group of 14yr old black kids coz lots of them jump people at random. I had one friend living in a sketchy area get out of the tube station and get beaten up by a group of teens who didnt even try to take his wallet, they just wanted to beat him up for fun.

My unfortunate conclusion on my last trip to England (amongst visiting family and considering moving there for work) was that they are, for a large majority especially outside the largest city centres, a bunch of slightly more well-spoken versions of Southern U.S. rednecks except they don't have access to guns and they drink a lot more.
