fucking manufacture invents this stupid light up dash during the day, for what? who the hell cant see their gauge during the day?
Inventing that, why not invest in putting auto lights for every car, instead the useless dash that lights up 24/7

I personally notice it is mostly toyota matrix drivers that forget to turn on their lights.
I would highbeam them many times and they would just keep driving along like they did nothing wrong.

speaking of no lights, I almost crashed into a car last wkend during the heavy rain. A dark grey 80s car with no lights, front & back. I wonder if the guy can actually see where he's heading.

Glad my base model corolla came with auto lights.. Never ever have to turn them on at night so i never forget to turn them off. Whats annoying though is when its the evening and the auto light flickers on and off cause the lighting changes soo much.. Or driving though a tunner and lights come on just to come off again as i get out...

I actually took out the DRL's for exactly the opposite reason... With DRL as soon as I turned on the car the dash lights would come on. I was so used to having cars that if the lights werent on the dash lights wouldnt be on so half the time I'd drive around with no lights on till I noticed..
Now that I removed the DRL it is like I was used to and I always turn my lights on.

When my gf first got her matrix (1.5gen), she complained about how at night, there's no indication of what gear she is in (P, R, N, D etc...) because the center console dosen't like up.
She used to drive her mom's Volvo 850, with auto lights and stuff...
I lol'd so hard I got slapped

that's a waste of lamp, IMO....they are only rated for so many hours of duty, and yours are on all the time? ever do any long trips (12hr+) on continuous driving?

driving back home I saw a white mazda3 with no lights on 12am on 41st & Clarendon, I flashed him he flashed me back but his lights were still off...
Anyways.. Few years ago when the dollar was par on US a bunch of american cars came through. IIRC US cars don't have the standard DRL.
on another note DRL is just a doohickey of relays that make 12v high beams series into a parallel circuit.

driving w/o any lights on at night is just retarded. i don't know how people are so absent minded.

i absolutely hate it when the car(s) around me dont have their lights on at night. I try to get their attention and switch my lights on and off hoping it would make some sense to them...
...only works 1% of the time. *sigh*
the other 99% thinks my car is broken.

telling my 60yr old mom to turn on the lights, is like telling her to adjust the settings in a dvd player.

I agree with a lot of you. People on the road seem to think that every car has lights that turn on automatically..its even worse when isee young guys drive with out they're lights on. Posted via RS Mobile |

There's always these highbeam civics driving around, and most of them are womens in their mids 30's - 40's..
I seriously believe they need to take a course to learn about their own car.... Posted via RS Mobile |

One time i stopped at a red light waiting for a left turn at 41st and victoria. The guy across flashed his highbeams at me and it wasn't until 2 blocks later i realized i had no lights on (it was dusk).

I missed it when I could turn off all the lights on my car with it running. Was useful sometimes.

With DRL cars, it's very hard to warn other cars that they had their lights off, as one cannot turn off ones lights completely.
I disabled my DRL for this reason.

Like what most say, in this case DRL does more harm than good. Unless you have a car with very different lighting systems (Std DRL, HID Low Beam) you can hardly tell if you are running on DRLs or LB in the city where its all bright with street lights.
I'm not sure what the purpose of DRLs are. I mean, if its foggy or misty, you should be driving with your LBs anyway.
