Upgraded breaking.

This may be a long shot...

I drive a geo and the breaks really seem like there is nothing there. It's not that I need new pads, shoes, or anything like that, it's just that the car is so under powered in every aspect (it WAS the fuel econo car before any hybrid came out) that it doesn't have any power to start with.
Is there any better rotors and pads that will fit it? I know the car is essentially the same as the suzuki swift, and there are lots of parts made for that car, unlike my geo. Is anything a direct bolt on?
I may never need that extra breaking power, but it's very reassuring to know you have it if you need.

My friend has upgraded breaking. His car breaks down a lot more since the upgrade, so I guess it's doing the job.

All kidding aside, you can upgrade anything on the car as long as you have the money to do it. If the parts are the same as a Swift, go to a Swift Owners site and see what kinds of mods they have done on their vehicles.

Absolutely correct. I helped a buddy flush out his car's brake fluid and it was totally fucked up. Smelled bad and looked like water. Brake fluid should be fresh.

ok well first on the docket is to get my car home. Some one fucked with the tires tonight which has rendered the car usless. After I get it home and fix this first problem, ill get to other pressing matters.

Thanks for the tips though! I'll flush the fluid, then if that fails, go check out upgrading the breaking system.

i think we all know what he means by "breaking system" let's be constructive. Well first thing i would do is bleed the system like the others have said. Make sure your brake lines are good. Check the booster, and master cylinder. If you want to upgrade. You will need bigger calipers, bigger rotors, bigger booster, bigger master. Which is probably going to cost more than that Geo Metro Lawl

Well, if you're going to flush the brakes anyway, you might want to check your brake lines (hoses). If they look like crap, you can always upgrade to better hoses. Perhaps stainless steel braided, teflon coated type. Those will certainly help with the braking. It might be enough to give you the difference you want in braking performance.

Do you know how to flush your brake system? It's not easy doing it by yourself. Also, it's not cool to have air in the lines. Nothing worse than not being able to stop very well in emergency situations. Have your e brake checked and adjusted, too.

BTW, if you didn't notice the little jokes (poking fun at your mistake) in some of the replies in your thread, it's brakes, not breaks. Brakes help your car stop. Break - well, it means to bust something. Also, break. As in I hate to break it to you.

upgraded pads alone will help. there's lots of companies out there check with ebc, hawk, porterfield. try to find some forums with guys with swifts who autox perhaps, they'll be able to tell you if they can find a matching pad.

Wow. One simple mistake and look what happen. This is ridiculous!

Anyways, Yeah i know how to flush the system. It's not overly difficult, but it will be very time consuming with only one person. As soon as i dig my car out of my buddies front lawn (not as bad as you think... Its a party house) and get it back home it will be high on the priority list of things to do.

For those RS members who have more intelligence than a retard, thanks for the input

What year is your Geo? In most cases for cars with G10 engines you can upgrade the brakes by swapping parts from a MK2 turbo 3 or any MK4. If you dig around on http://www.teamswift.net, you'll find the info you're looking for.
